Worried about getting on a plane in 3 weeks time for work

It's an internal flight. Anyone else concerned? Or am I being silly.

I can't not go as I'm self employed so if I don't work I'm buggered.

I'm also worried that the thing I'm actually getting on the plane to go to will be cancelled, and I will also not get paid.

You’re being daft.

HomerSimpsonSmilingPolitely · 02/03/2020 19:05

I wouldn't worry. Just keep washing your hands after touching handles, door locks, counter tops etc

I work for a very large company and we’re cancelling all upcoming conferences/events and have a travel ban in place. Have heard similar from friends in the UK and the US. You’re absolutely not being daft to worry about this. Without knowing more about what your ‘thing’ is it’s hard to say exactly but if it’s a conference then yes, it’s probable that it will be cancelled.

I wouldn’t worry about catching anything on the plane though. The air is filtered so it’s some of the cleanest indoor air there is. If you can still go then wipe the seat down with antibacterial wipes, take hand sanitizer and use it regularly.

Yes, it's a conference I'm speaking at.

I have booked my flights, so if its cancelled I will actually lose £350!

DD is on an internal flight today, flying into an area with know coronavirus connections. It's that or a six hour train journey - having done the train journey last week, I think it's less of a risk flying as it's shorter.

purplerainred · 03/03/2020 12:51

If the flight is cancelled won’t the airline refund you?

pedanticstyleguide · 03/03/2020 13:11

The conference might have been cancelled by then. I wouldn't worry until much nearer the time.

Movinghouseatlast · 04/03/2020 13:23

Yes, but if the conference is cancelled I wont get the money I paid for the flights.

Of course if the flight itself is cancelled I will get a refund. The flight being cancelled doesn't worry me at all.

My sympathies, I've just lost a chunk of work due to companies putting in place "unnecessary travel" bans.

At least in my case it's just loss of income and I haven't incurred any expenses. Still stings though.

The flight was with Flybe so all.pointless now!
