Conflict in the Middle East

Netanyahu must win today. Israel can’t afford a weak leader right now.

It’s crazy how much pure hatred gets thrown at Netanyahu from every direction, more than any other current leader even Putin, but the idea that Israel must get rid of him to rebuild its standing in the international community is absurd IMO.

You can't run a country surrounded by hostile Arab states, who hope for your annihilation, by trying to be politically correct or try to please Western governments (to appease their own electorates) who have no idea what Israel has to deal with. They only understand strength, not weakness.

Say what you want about his politics but the guy has serious balls and does not back down.

No other leader in Israel, or any other world leader for that matter, has his level of experience when it comes to dealing with terrorism and national security. He’s been managing these existential threats for decades while other politicians just talk.

If you actually research the corruption charges it's obvious they are a politically motivated stitch-up by a left wing establishment that invented a bizarre legal theory about "media coverage" just to oust a leader they couldn't beat in elections.

It's exactly why he needs to stay in power and finish the job. He is the only one who refuses to fall for the fantasy of a 2 state solution, which is completely dead in the water after Oct 7th. Any backing down to the Palestinians now would be absolute suicide.

He literally built Israel's massive tech economy and proved with the Abraham Accords that strength gets results.

My genuine worry if he loses today is that whoever takes over will be way too soft and cave to international pressure on a Palestinian State and on Iran.

If Israel softens its stance, the pressure on Iran and Hamas drops completely and it leaves ordinary Iranian and Gazan people trapped with zero hope.

In a brutal neighborhood you need a strong, tested leader.

As Golda Meir said - "If we have to have a choice between being dead and pitied, and being alive with a bad image, we’d rather be alive and have the bad image."

Update on the turn out

Is it true that the Ultra Orthodox may decide future elections (and maybe this one, I don't know), due to their numbers which are increasing all the time. The UO average family size is 6 kids, and for other Israelis it is 2. Demographics.... Not sure how the UO vote though. Someone might know. And I don't know if their vote would make a difference anyway.

It will be interesting to see the outcome of this election. I reckon it will be a hodge podge of various interests, but Netenhayu will form some sort of coalition government. Will he be on shaky ground though, as he can be toppled very quickly if he hangs on by a thread.

I'm just musing, and I haven't a lot of knowledge about the situation, only what I read now and then.

Tryagain26 · Today 12:34

He is a war criminal. I don't think there is any doubt about that. The world will be a safer place if he loses

Newbutoldfather · Today 12:34

@RedTagAlan ,

‘Not disputing what you are saying, it would be interesting to see the numbers and the stories.’

https://english.m.tau.ac.il/research/emigration-from-israel

‘After many years of relatively stable migration balances, nearly 270,000 Israelis left the country for at least three consecutive months between 2023 and 2025, averaging approximately 90,000 departures per year. During the decade between 2010 and 2019, the comparable annual figure was approximately 60,000.

The researchers also refer to findings from their previous publication, which identified increased emigration among physicians, PhD holders, engineers, and individuals with academic degrees and/or relatively high incomes’

I'm not sure if they have but a few months ago I read an article which stated that unfortunately most of the Israeli people agree with his genocidal ways. He has huge power and support so it looks like he'll get through again.

This is true.
The majority hate Palestinian Christians and muslims. There are only a small percentage that agree its genocide and because they protest or refuse to join the idf they are imprisoned

Holocaust inversion is never a good look - couldn't you have found a different way to criticise Netanyahu, the English language has lots of insults.

I hope he gets sunk. He’s a warmonger and responsible for the deaths of millions.

I am very much pro palestine.
In fact, thanks to the Palestinians who welcomed them after the horrific Holocaust and giving them homes, food, water and jobs this is now what israel does. Its diabolical watching the news and seeing kids qith no limbs crying in tents being blown up and idf dancing about it. Ben givr as well visited the Palestine prisoners whom are being raped by idf soldiers and dogs and told the poor edlery man who was severely hungry bow much he hated him and hiw much he wanted him dead. It breaks your heart

Okay he’s a modern day Saddam hussein, Stalin. Does that help?

What Hitler did to the Jews and black people > horrendous.
What Ben netanyahu did to palestine > horrendous
What the idf and zionist do to palestine > horrendous.

Please watch Hamzah on YouTube or Facebook he does live conversations with people from israel who openly scream who much they want him and other Palestinian dead, how much they hate him, they're happy killing kids and babies. Its diabolical.

Him and the idf and the zionist government.

I didn't think anyone is likely to win outright. Who the leader is will depend on the form of the coalition.

Twiglets1 · Today 13:49

Sorry if people don't like me suggesting that Holocaust inversion is not a good look, particularly when criticising a Jewish person.

This.

It's not tenable or sustainable.

Countries survive long term by having cordial relationships with at least some of their neighbours.

Maybe they would have cordial relationships if they werent constantly and deliberately blowing up building, ambulances, schools and hospitals its diabolical. If he wins, i fear what comes next. If he doesnt win, I fear who does. Free palestine 🇵🇸 ✨️

drivinmecrazy · Today 13:51

I have no in-depth knowledge of this region but I’m fearful of a win or loss of the current regime.
I can’t see how it’s going to solve anything.
if Netanyahu wins it will be deeply unpopular with many people, equally you could say the same if he loses.
unfortunately it’s not going to make Jewish people here in uk any safer.
I will admit I’m completely ignorant of the other parties in this race apart from Likud.
can someone enlighten me of the opposition parties and how they differ from the current regime

Yes it will very likely be another coalition government but will Netanyahu or Eisenkot or someone else be the PM I wonder.

Right down to the wire apparently. From last night:

Benjamin Netanyahu posted a closing argument on Instagram: an AI-generated image of Tel Aviv destroyed by a nuclear blast, with accompanying text that asked, roughly, Would you prefer to reelect Netanyahu, or be incinerated along with your family?

Hss got stinking nerve. Everyone in israel is having a fab time, going shopping, to school safely, to hospital appointments without being worried its going to blow up. They're so ridiculous accusing palestine muslims of being the terrorists . They kill muslim and christians of palestine day in day out. Even spitting at nuns and going to the toilet on church steps. Irs horrific. I hate idf. I hate ben netanyapig I hate ben givr. And I feel sorry for the Jewish people in israel standing up to this but instead They're hit by the idf and imprisoned can you believe.

So because he’s Jewish he cannot be likened to other dictators? Isn’t that anti-Semitic?

Endofthetunnel25 · Today 13:57

He's a psychopath... his answer to "peace" is to bomb the sh1t out of everyone around him. Anyone who can see the complete and utter devastation inflicted on Gaza and vote for more of that should be ashamed. I read earlier he tried to bomb Iran again this week and even his own security advisor and Trump refused to back him. His policies and actions have caused antisemitism to rise twofold, sadly. Get him infront of the criminal court when he belongs.

Oh dear you must be familiar with the concept of Holocaust inversion surely?

It's not for me to educate you on what else is and isn't antisemitic.

No I don’t know what holocaust inversion is.

But you were very quick to point it out.

Again, what does a modern day war criminal or political leader in 2026 have anything to do with the holocaust? Are you using this kind of language to exempt him from criticism?

Netanyahu, Hitler, Saddam, Stalin, Putin and co are all or were power hungry leaders who were responsible for the mass murder of innocent people. Their religions are irrelevant and if you are going to link past events to an individual to accuse people of strange things, well I must say it’s very sinister.

Your posts have been deleted because Holocaust inversion is a form of antisemitism. It's very easy to criticise Netanyahu without resorting to this.

I suggest you research it if you were honestly unaware that using holocaust inversion is problematic.
