Conflict in the Middle East

Are Brits coming home?

Wondering if anyone has some examples amongst their family and friends.

Are Brits moving back to the UK from the Middle East due to the conflict? Leaving home and jobs and schools? Or staying put?

Everyone I know is staying put so far. What happens with the schools after the early spring break in Dubai may be a deciding factor for some. They are now due back on 23rd after Eid and if it moves to distance learning indefinitely I can see some who lived through that summer term in 2020 re-evaluating as the weather heats up too.

Why are you asking this? Are you a journalist?

It does sound very much like a journalist fishing for a story.

I know of three sets of people who were in the region on holiday and all home by now. But wondered what about the people who lived there, whether it’s scary enough to leave everything and come back to the UK.

No one I know has actually moved back. I would guess they might but most can only be in the uk for a limited number of days each tax year so would have to go on holiday for a few weeks before they headed home.

No one I know is planning to leave permanently, some are ‘on holiday’ for spring break and might stay put wherever that is whilst distance learning is in place but will return as soon as school resumes in-person.

I don’t actually know anyone who has decided to return home permanently (whatever country that may be to), but I suspect it would be the more recent arrivals who haven’t been here long enough to feel like ‘home’
