Conflict in the Middle East

Qatar strongly condemns attacks on it from Iran

Qatar feels betrayed by Iran.

Qatar feels Iran is breaking international law.

Qatar normally mediated but is being attacked. Attacks from Iran must stop immediately. However, they are proud of their military defending against Iran.

Iran really aren't helping themselves.

That was from the Al Jazerra interview with Qatars minister for foreign affairs. Strongly condemned Iran.

Really strange that Iran is attacking Qatar when it has been a mediator for so long.

Weird!
Jassim al thani said the us is stabbing them in the back and once they declare war to iran they would be left alone to foot the bill of their own mutual destruction, essentially leaving the greater is ra el project unmanned.

Also from personal talks to qataris they want the us base out. More threat than protection.

I agree.

Iran might be wanting to destabilise the region by attempting them to act with Iran. Who knows what they are thinking by attacking countries that aren't attacking them.

Well according to this news article, Qatar wants to bolster (strengthen) partnership with the US.

Interesting ... that backfired for Iran.

Qatar hosts the biggest U.S. base in the Middle East, Al Udeid Air Base, which was attacked by Iran during the war that erupted on February 28.

The spokesperson, Majed Al Ansari, told a media briefing on Tuesday the security partnership with the United States was not in question, but added that its deals with the U.S. and European countries need to be strengthened.

"The partnerships are the main stop-gap and deterrent against any attack on our country," he added.

"When things go out of control and spiral, the result is deterrents do not work... But that doesn't mean you shouldn't have deterrents. You should strengthen these deterrents and that is exactly what are we trying to do right," Al Ansari said.

Yes I just did thanks! Very interesting. So many stakeholders and interests at play.
Let's wait and see how it pans out with so many conflicting positions.
