Sorry I got confused .... haven't seen today's PMQs.

How did she do?

Terrible but at least she had the grace no to have some fun with that particular comment.

Ah well ... I doubt we've heard the last of Starmer being compared to Churchill even if Kemi didn't bring it out on this occasion.

I guess it comes down to whether you consider it an insult or a compliment

If you have watched Hegseth's latest press conference then I think it is the latter.

I just thought it was funny tbh.

Trump being petulant because he didn't get his own way.

The best thing Keir can do is laugh it off if anyone mentions it, which is what he probably will do.

Probably depends if you still like Starmer, those who do will always say terrible. But he’s running pretty low on those going by ratings.

For certain.

Insults are Trum'p's thing, the issue is that that petulant toddler is in charge.

As for the thread title, Hegseth implied it was Israel in charge.

What a ridiculous comment. Did the thousands of Iranian protestors who got murdered by their own government also die to distract us?

Don't you care about them at all or the threat of Iran developing nuclear weapons? Maybe Iran were developing high purity uranium to distract us from the Epstein files.

Is every war in the world started just to protect some high up leaders from personal scandals that might have been coming their way? Or might the reasons be extremely varied and complex?

Trump doesn't care about Iranian people, protesters or otherwise.

Why he has started this? Who knows but saving his own butt is not beyond him.

I never said he did.

But the US has many reasons for this war including one big one which is the threat of Iran developing nuclear capabilities in the future, which they boasted they were working towards. Due to their well known hatred of America and Israel, Iran having a nuclear bomb is a scary prospect.

People say 'It's all about oil' as if that completely invalidates a war. Natural resources are always a major strategic part of any hot or cold war.

China is heavily dependent on cheap oil imports from Iran. They allow it to consistently undercut other economies and are helping it on its way to becoming the new world superpower.

In turn, the Iranian regime gets money and Chinese technology which allow it to survive sanctions and continue its campaigns of oppression, terrorism and proxy wars.

In turn, if Iran became the China-dependent dominant power in the Middle East it would allow China to control the Suez canal and the Strait of Hormuz, effectively controlling much of the world's economy.

So, yes, a lot of this is about oil, but who has oil and who gets oil is important.

No, I don't think that is correct. China isn't heavily dependent on Iran's oil at all.

Iran supplies between 15% of the oil China imports. They have diversified their imports pretty effectively and certainly aren't dependent on Iranian oil. They get far more from Russia, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq.

On the other hand, China is the buyer for about 90% of Iran's oil exports, making Iran pretty dependent on China. So it's a very unbalanced relationship that does give China influence in a strategically important region.

The idea that cheap oil from Iran is vital to China is not true either. It's a useful bonus in some parts of their economy, but if it disappeared, it wouldn't really have a huge impact; they would simply adjust their supply chains and carry on leveraging their huge industrial and manufacturing base (which is what actually drives their economic success).

It’s about the Epstein files. People re dying to distract us.

Its about a country who have now proven that they will attack anyone in range being prevented from having nuclear weapons.
This obsession some people have with epstein is ridiculous. The amount of money and time which has gone into historic cases because of the celebrity nature of it could have been put to far better causes like preventing some of the current and prolific CSA in Asia.

QuiteUnbelievable · 11/03/2026 10:56

@EsmaCannonball totally agree . Look at us right now , myself and everyone around me is affected by the petrol and energy issues !
Qatar has said the entire global economy is at risk because of oil production !

……and acted upon in a particularly timely way.
