Conflict in the Middle East

I don't understand the silence from the government. 😥

I don't understand the silence from the government. 😥

Starmer has expressed that he is "deeply concerned" and has "urged the Iranian authorities to exercise restraint".

Compare that to the more recent unequivocal condemnation from the German Chancellor Merz:

“A regime that can only hold onto power through sheer violence and terror against its own population: its days are numbered,” Merz tells journalists at a press conference alongside Romanian Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan.
“It could be a matter of weeks but this regime has no legitimacy to govern the country.”

It's time for Starmer to make a stronger statement too. He is so wishy washy on world events and doesn't speak out like a leader on the world stage but just follows others once he sees which way the wind is blowing.

@Twiglets1 Exactly.

It may be that those who don't oppose the regime approve of the funding for Hamas, Hezbollah, The Houthis etc. Afterall, not so long ago some people were chanting sweet little ditties suggesting the Houthis should attack ships merely passing, loaded with goods. Several workers onboard ships were killed, alas that didn't bother the supporters.

I propose supporters of particular terrorist groups don't particularly care about Iranians slaughtered on protests. Humanitarian's they aren't.

It’s certainly looking that way

Another example of Starmer being wishy washy No 10 welcomes EU plan to label Iran’s IRGC terrorists – but won’t say if UK will do the same

EU foreign ministers met in Brussels on Thursday to further respond to Iran’s brutal crackdown on protesters in recent weeks.

The bloc adopted new sanctions targeting individuals and entities involved in the violent crackdown and is now poised to include the IRGC – the military group loyal to the Iranian regime – on its list of terrorist organisations.

“This will put them on the same footing with al-Qaeda, Hamas, Daesh [Isis],” the EU’s foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said. “If you act as a terrorist, you should also be treated as a terrorist.”

What's Starmer going to do now ... Jump on the bandwagon as usual while lacking the balls to act first?

Apologies to anyone who supports Labour - I promise this is not an anti Labour post & I voted Labour in the last election. I'm just sick of Starmer to be honest.

Britain to follow EU in labelling IRGC a terror group

The UK is set to follow the EU by introducing new terror-style powers to ban Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC).

Government sources said that ministers will introduce a new law banning the group which has been accused of helping massacre thousands of protesters in Iran and also operating a campaign of harassment against dissidents in the UK.

The confirmation came on Thursday after the European Union added the IRGC to its list of terrorist groups alongside al-Qaeda, Hamas and Islamic State.

You need to tell Starmer the Muslim vote is gone to the like of Zarah who wish the end of Israel. In order to stand up to Reform and the Conservatives he has to be far stronger and not be led by any feelings for the far left.

Hopefully anyone supporting these will be arrested.

Anyone supporting Palestinian Action should be arrested.

Anyone holding signs or shouting to "globalise the intifada" should be arrested.

Terrorist supporters must be arrested.

Starmer can't appeal to everyone and despite he is obviously very concerned about the Muslim vote, he needs to distance himself from the beliefs of people like Zarah Sultana. She is a person who holds extreme views and he needs to remember that his core voters are more moderate and don't want to be associated with antisemitism.
