Fourteen countries, including Britain, Canada and Germany, have condemned the Israeli security cabinet’s approval of 19 new settlements in the occupied West Bank,

excerpt from statement “Such unilateral actions, as part of a wider intensification of the settlement policies in the West Bank, not only violate international law but also risk fuelling instability.

“They risk undermining the implementation of the comprehensive plan for Gaza amid efforts to progress to phase 2 and harming prospects for long-term peace and security across the region.

“We recall our clear opposition to any form of annexation and to the expansion of settlement policies, including the approval of the E1 settlement and thousands of new housing units.

And they’re going to do precisely what about it…

I agree that words alone seem so feeble but it’s a start and we can only hope the condemnation will lead to some action? It’s a daily onslaught.

The settlers are the foot soldiers for the projects and stronger condemnation should start by providing full support to Palestinians who are subjected to relentless attacks on their homes and land and for the volunteers who are trying to defend them.

Why wait until Palestinians have been violently driven off and their land has been seized to illegally build these settlements in a ‘ construction binge’ as it has euphemistically been labelled.

Those volunteers should be very proud of themselves. They are extremely brave.

85 countries now. Just waiting for the step up from condemnation to action.
