The government need to act on this. West Midlands police have more than enough man power to police a football match with at most 1000 away fans. I watched West Midlands politics today and there was a politician brazenly saying part of the reason for effectively banning the Tel Aviv fans was they there was 'a moral point about Gaza'. We cannot have local councillors, community leaders and MPs agitating for the anti Semitic ban of fans of one of Israel's premier football teams.

We have to face reality want know that a lot of local residents are anti Israel and have taken this opportunity for VIlla Park to become a no go area for Jews.

Let's hope the decision is overturned and quickly.

Parts of Birmingham 'can't be a no-go area for Jews', says Ed Miliband

The Energy Secretary said Britain 'cannot have a situation where any area is a no-go area for people of a particular religion or from a particular country'.

As are many members of the Israel Cabernet and the illegal settlers. Fit the above definition very nicely, indeed.

Ah yes the Israel Cabernet, it's not to everyone's taste.

do they have a history of violence? Then probably not.

So Israelis are welcome?

Boom 🤣

I can't believe the level of disingenuity on this thread.

Let's try a hypothetical scenario.

Imagine if there was a supporting side that was mainly Muslim, a few thugs identified in said side. There was a big event in a predominantly white area who via their MP had already the Muslim attendees wouldn't be welcome due to a conflict thousands of miles away and alleged safety concerns. So the police banned that side as they state that they couldn't maintain safety?

There would be outrage. People would rightly say it was hate and intolerance, tell the locals to get a grip and ban the offenders not the whole supporting side.

maudelovesharold · 19/10/2025 14:57

Yes, of course Israelis should be welcome in Birmingham, and everywhere else, just not Israeli football thugs who have form for violent disorder, destruction of property and mindless racist chanting - e.g. “There are no schools in Gaza because there are no children left.”
Nice. And not at all provocative…

If the circumstances were the same with any group of “fans”, I would fully expect the police to carry out exactly the same risk assessment with all intelligence available to them weighed up (which the public is obviously not privy too)

You appear to be suggesting that the police force in Birmingham is institutionally anti-Semitic? If so, that’s one hell of an accusation based purely upon your personal bias.

This is such a scarily diluted version of what actually occurred. It shows the mindset.

MrsSkylerWhite · 19/10/2025 15:02

And in no circumstance, when faced with a group of violent, rampaging thugs potentially in their streets, would the police tell the rightfully apprehensive local residents to “get a grip”. That would be a blatant dereliction of duty. Their priority is the safety of local residents.

Doesn’t it just.

Leavesfalling · 19/10/2025 15:04

Would they be banned in say Newcastle do we think? Or is there something specifically problematic about Brum?

DenizenOfAisleOfShame · 19/10/2025 15:04

Haven’t RTFT but why are people so convinced of Maccabi fans’ thuggishness? The violence in Amsterdam doesn’t appear to have been their fault.

Are they really the Millwall of Israel? And are Millwall fans banned from other grounds?

I would hope proven, violent thugs would be banned in any British town or city.

So do you think a large group of Israelis would be able to congregate in Birmingham in absolute safety? I'm not talking about football fans...just a large group of Israelis with absolutely no history of violence whatsoever.... would they be safe?

Not their fault?! Seriously? Not sure where you get your news.

They are using some fans behaviour as an excuse to ban all purely because the locals <headed by their vocal pro gazan MP> are intolerant. It's very sad and totally ironic. You'd think the very people who have wanted diversity and inclusion themselves would strive for that for everyone.

Any supporters who have demonstrated violent behaviour should have been arrested in whichever county alleged incidences occurred and entry into another country refused.

To ban all Israelis from a predominantly muslim area is antisemitism.

Their reputation is long term. It's not remotely a new thing.

The police, with access too far more intelligence than you or I, have clearly reached a different decision.
Or do we just ignore experts again?

I doubt Israelis would be banned from any other city.

Comedycook · 19/10/2025 15:12

I mean we know Jewish people aren't safe in the UK.... Hence the increased security at Jewish schools and synagogues ...and hence why whenever there's a Jewish event the address is usually kept secret until close to the time..

Are they proven, violent thugs any more than any other team?

As far as I know there are teams which attract disorderly fans. But I don’t recall any Israeli teams being mentioned. I googled and it looks like Polish and Turkish fans have the worst track record. Are they banned from travelling to games?

MrsSkylerWhite · 19/10/2025 15:14

Israelis have not been banned from Birmingham. Pure hyperbole. A group of hooligans with proven, violent form has.

The police aren't alway experts. If the local police can't do their job and control the residents and /or any unrest from fans they should perhaps ask other more experienced police forces for advice and support.
