Tumbleweed from the pro pals on this but if Hamas attack civiians isn't that a 'genocide' or is that term only reserved for Israel?.Will the marchers in London be confusing this if it happens ..... simple answer no.

People walk along a heavily damaged street in the northern Gaza Strip on16 October, 2025.

Gaza ceasefire: US says Hamas is planning 'imminent' attack on civilians

The US state department says the move would be a violation of the ceasefire deal, but did not give further details.

Sorry Gazan in the title.

Well the article was yesterday evening and it's 8 o clock on a Sunday morning so id say it's not exactly tumbleweed.

Plus this line:
Should Hamas proceed with this attack, measures will be taken to protect the people of Gaza and preserve the integrity of the ceasefire," the statement said.

To me this indicates that civilians will be protected along with the ceasefire while Hamas is pursued which I would feel is in full agreement with the views of most on here (certainly mine) so it's not exactly controversial.

I agree Hamas should be stopped but who should stop them?.should the IDF step in to prevent a massacre?

If it was just on Hamas and the IDF were willing to do it then yes. They have the intelligence and the knowledge of the landscape.

I don't think there be any appetite in America for their troops to enter into a guerilla warfare situation with boots on the ground.

TomeTome · 19/10/2025 08:18

I don’t think IDF should set foot in Gaza or any other part of Palestine.

Even to protect Gazan civilians from Hamas?

Not even to save innocent Gazans from being butchered?

mids2019 · 19/10/2025 08:22

Maybe this could be either Hamas continuing its brutal revenge against those that they consider traitors or an attempt to regain authority through fear. I suppose Hamas have nothing to lose and many I imagine will be prosecuted or estimated by Missed in the years to come.

I feel sos sorry for Palestinians, regardless of whether you think this war was justified or not there has been real suffering for civilians. To look forward to a ceasefire and then find that Hamas are back to business as usual and just executing people in the streets like they are animals. It’s fucking tragic imo. I’m going to be honest as well, a lot of pro pals either don’t know or don’t care about how brutal arab society (I’ve lived in one )be. It can also be warm and welcoming but the often weak sense of communal good, sectarianism and repression is there.

It’s all just so evil.

mids2019 · 19/10/2025 08:24

I wonder if it could be a false flag operation attempt to continue getting sympathy for the cause from the western useful idiots?

OP posts:
Twiglets1 · 19/10/2025 08:30

I don't think the IDF will get involved as that could be seen as breaking the ceasefire.

The BBC report says that Washington has already informed other guarantors of the Gaza peace agreement - which include Egypt, Qatar and Turkey and "should Hamas proceed with this attack, measures will be taken to protect the people of Gaza and preserve the integrity of the ceasefire.

Hopefully that means other countries would send troops rather than the IDF having to deal with Hamas thinking now's a good time to kill lots of Palestinians who don't support them.

What if Hamas use the civilians as human shields again when they're being pursued though? Should they be allowed to terrorise the Gazans with impunity?

I don't think that's fair. Most people recognize Hamas need to be eliminated because the last thing Palestinian citizens need is a situation where they are living under a regime worse than the Taliban.

How to do it is clearly the issue.

Plus there will be no discussion if statehood under Trump's plan at any stage in the future if they remain.

I genuinely don't know. No more Palestinian civilians deserve to die so it is a very tricky situation.

Unwound be the first person to cheer if you could get rid of radical Islamism in Gaza. I just hope the pro pals see any further attack on Hams as an opportunity for change in Gaza rather than spewing Jew hate.

OP posts:
Stripes56 · 19/10/2025 08:43

Maybe there is tumbleweed as there is nothing particularly controversial about Hamas needing to be sidelined and an alternative governance structure put in place for Gaza. We need the next steps of Trump’s plan to proceed and greater clarity around this.

The Gaza civilians being killed - are they gang members who are trying to vie for control in the region or who Hamas think were collaborating with Israel? Not that this is an excuse.

Interesting article from Sky news.

It's quite revealing that your reaction to this awful carnage is to speculate sardonically on how your political opponents will react, rather than, say, anger or sorrow or horror. But I guess the difference is that I see Palestinians as actual people.

Yes it would be refreshing if the slogans changed to 'free palestine from hamas' which is and always has been the problem .

We all see gazans as people, except hamas who are murdering them and caused the carnage in the first place.

Stripes56 · 19/10/2025 08:56

From the article I posted:

And in exclusive interviews with Sky News, one of Yasser Abu Shabab's senior commanders and an IDF soldier serving on the Gaza border detailed how Israel is allowing them to smuggle cash, guns and cars into Gaza.

It feels like a risk of developing an alternative Hamas.

Funding of militias by foreign agencies to influence local politics is not new though?

Is the term "useful idiots" something they teach you in propaganda school?
I see it used here a lot by posters dismissing any criticism of Israel.

If it's intended to be sarcastic and patronising, it really just does the opposite.

Agree.

However, whatever happens it will be Israel's fault if they are asked to go after Hamas again.

I still think Arab nations peacekeeping force should be used.

Yep.

"Pro pals" is another one popping up here a lot.
I guess they got bored with "but hamas"
