I rarely froth, but I occasionally effervesce.

Dangermoo · 23/08/2025 18:50

Apologies for derailing the thread. I'm not really pissed. On the old black coffee and talk of froth has made me yearn for a cup of something a bit more exciting.

Spat my boring coffee out 😆 🤣 😂 😹 😆 🤣 😂 😹

Can't prove hamas is committing war crimes??? (Or that the sun comes up in the morning? Do you live in one of the polar circles?)

😂 though supporting a proscribed terrorist organisation is no laughing matter.

PinkBobby · 23/08/2025 19:01

@Twiglets1 @Dangermoo @SharonEllis I think the light hearted hot chocolate chat is a little distasteful on a chat about famine. Might be best for you guys to connect via private messages - I’m sure you can understand people might find the joking around fairly insensitive at this time.

SaltAirAndTheRust · 23/08/2025 18:17

There is no evidence of Hamas stealing aid in Gaza.

If you have it, please do share it.

This is not true. Please do some research.

Twiglets1 · 23/08/2025 18:38

Apologies to anyone I’ve whipped into a froth today.

I feel a bit frothy - is that you?!

Wondered why there were so many miserable faces at the protests.

Tulip, I'm not even sure it's worth it anymore. Yet again, a thread highlighting the absolute atrocities in Gaza has been derailed and ran down by the same few users in order to prevent discussion about what Israel are doing.

I’m really happy to see people defending the constant attacks on Israel as a genocidal, apartheid state when it can feel like the vast majority of people see it as such. Balance at last.

No one is saying what is happening in Palestine isn’t awful and sad and tragic. No one wants to see people suffering. What we’re trying to say is that this is the fault of the Hamas terrorists. Yes Israel must shoulder some blame too, of course. But it is Hamas that has caused this war. It is Hamas that has led to the suffering of the Palestinian people. So Hamas should be who you are calling out.

Edited

Can I point out to you and @SaltAirAndTheRust that I tried to bring the thread back to the famine at 17:03 today, which over 2 hours ago.

In that time ANY of you could have discussrd issues around the famine. But you CHOSE not to.

Instead we have had petty insults and accusations with @SaltAirAndTheRust finally admitting that I actually haven't endorsed or defending starving children. People pretending that they need us to provide proof that the antisemitic, hostage-taking, civilian-attacking, raping, murdering terrorists Hamas have committed war crimes and persistent accusations of derailing when what we were doing was pushing back against these silly accusations, and various levels of misinformation. Now obviously we were not saying the correct things. Well tough. We are entitled to our opinions and to call out insults and misinformation. I think various posts minimising Hamas are far more distasteful than lighthearted pushback against a frankly silly accusation of whipping people into a froth.

And stopping aid for weeks? Denying famine/hunger/starvation? Or replacing the U.N. with GHF? Or politicians talking about Palestinians in a derogatory way. Who would you blame for each of those things?

Yes, they are always so sober and serious. You never hear a jolly song celebrating terrorism and the destruction of Israel on those marches.

Maybe if those people deliverving aid, complied with Israel's security instructions, there wouldn't be a problem. They were caught out with UNWRA, who the hell can blame them for being extra vigilant.

But we were still discussing Israel and Gaza. Not joking about grabbing a hot chocolate. I’m not having a go at you guys for connecting, just for doing it here. I’d say the same about people joking on another serious thread. I’m sure you’d be upset if people were joking on the hostages thread, for example (as I would be).

It’s fine - if you think it’s appropriate and want to immediately jump on the defensive rather a quick apology and on we go that’s up to you.

SaltAirAndTheRust · 23/08/2025 19:24

@SharonEllisdo you and your new found friends rescind your accusation of me supporting Hamas?

What conditions were the U.N. being asked to abide by to return to Gaza though? I understand being wary but not to a point where you shut off aid for weeks impacting millions of people.

And my other points?

There was a poster, this afternoon, making plenty of inappropriate posts, which were deleted. I take it you missed those. I also agree with @sharonellis in that dismissing Hamas as war criminals is disgraceful and an insult to the victims of 7/10. Enough of the faux outrage when that one passed by.

Nobody suggested you supported Hamas. One poster has crossed a line but has made herself look ridiculous, in the process. Denying Hamas are committing war crimes is pretty dumb and that's being polite.

So are you going to rescind that frankly insulting accusation?

I'm not being defensive, I have nothing to defend or apologise for. Merely pointing out that you had every opportunity to discuss the famine and chose not to. I've brought up several points myself that havent neen responded to.

If you show me when I accused you of supporting Hamas and what you said to make me say that I'll have a look at it. I can't speak for anyone else of course.
