Seder seat for a hostage

Let’s remember the hostages, those who escaped, those who were murdered and those who have still not been returned.

Tonight, there will be a Seder seat at my table for a hostage who is still being held captive.

As Jewish communities commemorate freedom from slavery, let us also hope that this next year is a better place for the hostages, Israelis and Jews, who are once again facing abuse, antisemitism and aggression, in work places, schools and communities.

We have placed a lemon on the Seder plate to remind us of the plight of the hostages and we will eat a slice with the Hillel sandwich to remind us of the bitterness they suffer. As far as I am concerned, Hamas are responsible for the women and children in Gaza. As Golda Meir once said “when they love their children as much as they hate you us ….”
