Just seen doctors family has provided an update

Good evening to everyone, By the grace of God, we were informed of the details and report of the visit. My father was subjected to severe mistreatment and torture by the army in the early days of his arrest and was held in solitary confinement for 24 days. After that, he was transferred to Ofer Prison, Room 24, Section 2. Dr. Hossam's health condition is stable, but he suffers from chronic high blood pressure and an enlarged heart muscle. He is currently receiving treatment. However, he is only provided with one meal a day, which is insufficient and of very poor quality. Regarding his legal case, it is clean, and there are no charges against him. All the accusations attributed to him have been denied due to a lack of evidence, and the case is clear. There is also a possibility of his release in the coming stages, as there are no charges against him from the Israeli public prosecution. He urges the world to help secure his release and the release of all detained healthcare personnel from all hospitals. They must be protected, their rights ensured, and they should receive care and be released as soon as possible. Thank you to everyone concerned about the case of my father's abduction. We call on everyone who can help to pressure for the provision of proper food, medicine, and his swift release. Thank you.

I don't understand, why is he being detained in these harsh conditions if there are no charges against him?

Because Israel do whatever the hell they want without any repercussions. There are currently thousands of Palestinians held without charge in Israel.

Why indeed, dont worry someone will be along in a few minutes to tell us its all " propaganda"

Liv999 · 11/02/2025 22:35

Praying for this man's release very soon, and all the other Palestinians being held with no charges against them 🙏

Martymcfly24 · 11/02/2025 22:57

Thanks for that @EasterIssland I hadn't seen it

24 days in solitary confinement.

That poor innocent man.

I know. Not sure what shocks me most. That , that he’d been tortured , that only one meal a day is provided or that he’s still arrested despite they’ve nothing against him. I’m glad he’s alive tho as many feared he’d not be. Hope he’s soon reunited with his family

I'll save my sympathy for the toddler and infant currently being held by Hamas while their father was freed last weekend.

Agree I thought he would be dead by now. I would have said being a high profile pediatric doctor would have been in his favour for treatment but obviously not .

Why can't you have sympathy for both? I feel terrible for all innocent people in this conflict.

wordsworthundercover · 11/02/2025 23:07

It's terrible that he can be held indefinitely without any charges, quite insane really, and very undemocratic.

Yes its quite shocking from a "democratic" country and very sad

Many people have sufficient space in their hearts to care about multiple people at the same time. People caring about a man imprisoned without charge does not mean those people don't also care about innocent children and others held captive.

Scirocco · 12/02/2025 08:04

Thank you for sharing the update, @EasterIssland .

I imagine Eli Sharabi, Ohad Ben Ami and Or Levy would have liked one meal a day. Of any quality. But they didn't get it.

I imagine Emily Damari would have liked to receive medical treatment for her hand, shot by Hamas as they took her. But she just got some iodine.

Everyone would have liked the Bibas babies to be released. At 4 months old and 9 months old, there could be no charges against them. No 'lack of evidence' needed. But after 494 days, they are still held captive.

Is this a race to the bottom ? Doesn’t this doctor deserve the same empathy as the Israelis you’re mentioning?

Do you honestly not feel compassion for an innocent man, a doctor, imprisoned, tortured and held in horrific conditions without charge?!
I'm afraid I don't understand you. I also feel immeasurably sorry for innocent Israeli hostages, especially children. It's not either/or. No innocent being deserves to lose their liberty 🤷‍♀️

I am a little surprised by your response If i am honest. I have been reading some of your posts for awhile now and I thought you generally had sympathy and understanding for innocent people on both sides even if your views don't always align with mine. Your response feels like it's quite dismissive of the doctors ordeal.

Yes thank you for this, i feel the same as you. I think it's important not to lose sight of those who are suffering on BOTH sides who are innocent.

You're right, and I apologise.

I'm feeling angry about the hostages and angry at the posters who are virtue-signalling on this thread but made so many pissy comments about Israel in the 'Hostages condition on release' thread, which should have been only about those 3 men. That wasn't you.

I do of course hope that he's been treated well, and that if he is innocent he is released soon. Doctors do an incredibly difficult and valuable job in a war zone, and should not be targeted.

Adropinthepond · 12/02/2025 20:41

Thank you, and I hope so too 🙏

EasterIssland · 19/02/2025 16:56

There is rumours that he might be released this Saturday. The family hasn’t said anything about it

I really hope so.

EasterIssland · 19/02/2025 20:26

The family has posted a video from the Israeli TV where they interviewed the doctor. The rumours I’ve seen about his release don’t seem to be what happens this weekend

That Doctor will have no doubt helped a great many injured children. Others are now deprived of that.

At great personal cost.
