Hamas need to gather together all the hostages and dead bodies of hostages and hand over.

No more playing games.

Has Israel started firing upon Palestine again? I haven’t seen anything like that yet.
I have read that Hamas are refusing to release hostages?

They haven't stopped. They are also murdering civilians in Lebanon. Tragic really, that news is so censored and there is little motivation to look beyond that censorship

Do point us in the direction of unbiased news reports. Meanwhile the hostages lie dying, starved and tortured.

I think you need to examine your racial bias while doing your deep thinking. People of other nations don't 'think' differently. That's the rhetoric of transatlantic slavery and colonialism. I am fed up of the divisiveness and othering of people, based on their ethnicity, nationality and religion. You may not have thought deeply about it, but yes, on a genetic level we are all pretty much the same.

You're an anthropologist?

And what is the source of this uncensored news?
Why would Israel be threatening an end to the ceasefire if they have already ended it?
Isn't Israel specifically targeting Hezbollah, another terrorist group?

Certain people tend to forget that Hezbollah have been attacking Israel from Lebanon since October 7th and act all surprised when Israel defends itself.

Racial bias? WTF! It’s a cultural thing, which is markedly different depending on where you come from.
Skin colour is nothing to do with anything.
How can you say it’s all to do with slavery and colonialism when it’s everything to do with a country’s culture?

Yes it’s weird isn’t it.
Hamas and Hezbollah are terrorist groups and need eradicating because they don’t seem to want real peace.
After reading the Hamas charter, it’s more like Hamas wants to eradicate Israel or more specifically, Jewish people.

I lived most of my life in London and now live on the West Coast of America. People here have different world view & it’s not racist to be aware of that.

Absolutely. I’m sure you find American values and culture different to British culture. It’s absolutely nothing to do with skin tone.

UnaGatita · 13/02/2025 05:50

@Ravensperch

I’m heartbroken for you. There is very clearly no easy solution and I cannot imagine the pain that the conflict is causing those that are close to it.
thank you for sharing this insight into your views, I very much appreciate it

I haven't been able to stop looking at pictures and footage of them...I'm shell shocked by it, and utterly heartbroken. I'm a granddaughter of a holocaust survivor and I think you described it very accurately, the generational trauma is definitely real and hard to describe to others.

Same for me.

wordsworthundercover · 13/02/2025 10:03

@UnaGatita This is what you wrote:
Don't get me wrong, I don't really like to see people dying under any circumstances, but as a UK born westerner I have no concept of how people of other nations think, particularly islamic leaning ones. I am very aware I used to try and apply western 'logic' to everywhere and think everyone was 'like us'. They really are not.

This is a convoluted paragraph, but it's meaning scans as:
I don't like to see people dying, but I don't understand these people because they are a different nationality and Muslim, and they are not like us.

Perhaps you meant something different, but the way you've structured it is problematic. That is something picked up on by me, and to some extent I think by @Fifiworks

Pennina · 13/02/2025 10:55

Just soon on online news that Hamas have agreed to release 3 hostages on Saturday.

Thanks. I was tired. I made my meaning clear in response to the criticism. However, I do not share beliefs and ideologies with terrorist groups (Hamas) and as a consequence cannot imagine plotting to capture, rape and behead other people. I’m not going to apologise for saying that I think differently to them.

But you didn't say that. You said you don't like to see people dying but other nations, particularly Muslim ones, are different to us. You didn't mention Hamas at all?

You didn't say terrorists or extremists, or even Islamists, though. You said 'Islamic leaning'.

Muslims are not one homogeneous mindset, or culture. We are as diverse in our cultures, politics and ideas as people of any other internationally distributed faith. We are not all terrorists or extremists or Islamists. At a time when anti-Muslim stereotyping, prejudice and even hate are all very common and leaving Muslims in fear for their safety, the language we use matters, and the language in your post did come across as stereotyping Muslims in general as being equivalent to Hamas.

UnaGatita · 13/02/2025 17:37

Now I’m being clear and I explained my position, at least twice, so now you know. I apologise for not being super clear, I will be very direct next time. It was my fault for trying to post too quickly while a conversation was happening in real time. Do you think you can possibly get over it, cease the pedantry and stop with the trolling now? Thanks

wordsworthundercover · 13/02/2025 17:43

@UnaGatita It isn't clear to me at all how you made this mistake while typing a message, no. Quite a major difference in meaning between the original post you made and where you have gone with it. However, I will leave it as you seem to feel you have expressed yourself perfectly at some point, and I doubt there is any more to be said.

quantumbutterfly · 13/02/2025 17:48

Marvellous, we're all the same so I can't imagine why anyone in any other country gets offended by behaviour that's outside their cultural norms. All those anthropologists should pack up and go home, there's nothing to learn from other cultures and societies.

Wibble128 · 13/02/2025 17:59

Hamas have launched a rocket at Israel, it malfunctioned and killed a Palestinian child.

Sad gor the child. They'll find some way to blame Israel, as they always do.

Who is censoring the news? Whats the mechanism for that?
