Hamas need to gather together all the hostages and dead bodies of hostages and hand over.

No more playing games.

I fear the remaining hostages will not be a sight Hamas want the world to see - the sick, the seriously injured and the dead (including very young children.) For the sake of all the innocents on both sides, they need to release them, or the ceasefire is over and the hell goes on.

I wonder if that is why they have done this. They know they are in such a poor state.

PurpleChrayn · 11/02/2025 19:06

Oh the apologists will be here soon - don't worry. We'll be seeing the old familiar names.

I don't think any of the remaining hostages are alive. Hamas lost track of the Bibas boys and their mother soon after October 7, in my opinion. They may have their bodies; they may not. But that's why they're stalling.

Seeing the state of the three men who were released last Shabbat touched something extremely visceral among Jews. Holocaust trauma. And now the news that an elderly Farhud survivor has been dead this whole time. It's a febrile time. Emotions are very high.

Sadly agree

Pennina · 11/02/2025 20:12

TheWayTheLightFalls · 11/02/2025 19:36

They won't. They need any shred of collateral they can get their hands on, even if it's the body of a months-old child that a family wants back. Evil fuckers.

Agree

Hamas were pulling out of the ceasefire anyway claiming Israel had not stuck to terms. Grasping at excuses not to continue and release the last hostages and dead bodies.

The optics were turning on them.

Where are the usual suspects to tell us how it’s all Israel’s fault?

It's all gone quiet over there…

PurpleChrayn you are so right about the trauma of the Holocaust revisiting those of us whose families died then. And Saturday's pictures of three tortured and starved hostages. I'm not ashamed to admit that I 've been having therapy to cope.

I’m so sorry.

Thank you for articulating this. The holocaust was my first thought on seeing the three released hostages on TV, but I wondered if I was being overdramatic.

A friend of mine is a pro-Palestine supporter and regularly posts on FB. She just informed me her boss has asked her to close down her account bc MSM have made contact and want to write a piece about her anti-semitic rhetoric. She quite seriously informed me that this confirms she is on the 'right side of history'. I think her virtue seeking behaviour online is abhorrent.

This will only confirm her true belief that Jews run the world's media!

I half-know how this must feel.
A number of my relatives came out of internment under the Japanese at the end of WWII, and will have looked much the same. My DGM weighed something between 5 and 6 stone. The images of those three men hit me hard.

I keep thinking of the Bibas family. I cannot believe the depths to which Hamas has stooped.

Maybe if Israel stuck to the terms of the ceasefire and restrained itself from shooting pregnant women and young boys and destroying Palestinian homes
https://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/2025-02-09/ty-article/.premium/pregnant-woman-killed-by-idf-fire-in-west-bank-palestinian-health-ministry-says/00000194-ea20-dc0f-a7de-fa30d2a50000

The appearance of Palestinian detainees released by Israel also brought to mind the faces of holocaust victims, those victims would be horrified by the actions of Israel, many survivors oppose/ opposed Israel’s dehumanising of Palestinians seeing in it echoes of how the Germans dehumanised Jews.

I read that the Hamas lot are easily irritated by noisy kids- They killed the 12 year old girl hostage who loved Harry Potter, so the toddlers are probably noisier so will have not been cared for well.
Hope I’m wrong.
The men freed look in an appalling state, goodness knows how babies and toddlers will fare.
The whole situation is twisted and wrong on both sides.

I am very away of the horrors of the holocaust , it is why Netanyahu calling for Lebensraum is so deeply shocking to me is it not to you?

So shameful

What is shameful is refusing to recognise that killing civilians on the scale that Israel has is wrong, that destroying schools, colleges and hospitals is wrong, that sniping children is wrong, the un recognises it is wrong, the icj recognises it is wrong, many Jews recognise it is wrong and holocaust survivors recognise it is wrong, why do you not ? www.jewishvoiceforlabour.org.uk/article/thirteen-holocaust-survivors-compare-zionist-policies-to-those-of-the-nazis/

user593 · 12/02/2025 00:09

I don’t know the details of how the ceasefire has been broken on the Israeli side, but I can understand why Hamas may not want to stand by the terms of the ceasefire given the opposing party has publicly declared their intention to ethnically cleanse their people during the ceasefire. It shows Netanyahu’s arrogance and complete disregard for the very fragile peace that has been temporarily achieved.

You do understand that Hamas's whole raison d'être is to destroy Israel?
