I have no words.

An A-Z of the children Israel killed in Gaza

Israeli attacks have killed at least 17,400 children in Gaza. That is one child killed every 30 minutes.

@Alltheprettyseahorses I am not a statistician, but the graph shows a decline in population increase in 2023-4, and a steadily decreasing fertility rate. I'm not sure it is easy to interpret the data quite so simply as the population increasing. As others have said, it is not specifically related to Gaza, either.

Gaza is a war zone. Much of it has been evacuated. The numbers are from a reliable spurce. If the figures showed the population to be decreasing I guarantee there'd be no quibbles about estimates and methodology. No one questioned the oulandish and completely unevidenced claim that 'tens of thousands' of children have been killed - of course not.

The Yearly Population Growth Rate chart plots the annual percentage changes in population registered on July 1 of each year, from 1951 to 2023. This value can differ from the Yearly % Change shown in the historical table, which shows the last year equivalent percentage change assuming homogeneous change in the preceding five year period.

To explain that simply for you, it's an algorithm populating a percentage based on previous year figure so taking into account no actual news, deaths, recorded events etc at all over the last year. Its also based on UN figures so therefore you trust UN figures and we can agree with them on the verified deaths in Gaza, yes or no?

Evacuated to where? You mean ethnically cleansed internally?

I mean moved away from the war zone. I find the use of the terms 'genocide' and 'ethnically cleansed' very offensive considering the far worse wars and terrible atrocities going on right now.

Where to? They're all displaced in Gaza and the entire country including humanitarian safe zones that Israel has instructed people to go to have been bombed. People are begging for injured children to be evacuated and being refused so please do tell where you believe people are being "evacuated" to?

Verified or Hamas estimated? Myself, I'm just glad there isn't a genocide and people are alive.

Imagine. You're more offended by something naming it than the fact that it's happening.

I don't know why Egypt or Jordan or other surrounding countries aren't taking refugees. Ask them.

It isn't happening. That's a good thing. Or at least I think it's a good thing.

Who's happy? I'm not. On the contrary, I'm happy to see that recent figures are suggesting the death toll of children is far lower than originally estimated. I don't believe anyone claimed 'tens of thousands' anyway, not even Hamas. But the sense I get from these threads isn't humanitarian compassion, it's people gagging for drama.

Who has said that the amount of kids killed is lower than expected ?

A little over 8000? I'd imagine there are more than that but I will join you in hoping the verified numbers are correct.

Now this is odd. Why on earth would a country at war take in refugees from the aggressor? Should Ukraine take in Russian refugees? The security risks are astonishing.

They’re happy to take their land… maybe they can use this land to accommodate the innocent civilians?

They are what has been verified so far, they are still working through. Most bodies are also still under the rubble as well. If Israel weren't denying access to independent journalists and assessor's this would all be done much more quickly.
Genuine question - do you believe genocide is defined by numbers?

Kakeandkake · 21/11/2024 14:05

@ConstanceM a dose of reality might do you some good. Israel has committed war crime after war crime and stand accused of "the war crime of starvation as a method of warfare; and the crimes against humanity of murder, persecution, and other inhumane acts”.

If you mean the West Bank, that was Jordanian terroritory lost in the Six Day War. Not Palestine. Israel withdrew from Gaza nearly 20 years ago.

Genocide is a serious atrocity. There have been claims of it against Israel for decades. It hasn't happened. I'm glad it hasn't happened.

theyre taking over land from north Gaza as well. Also they’re taking over land in West Bank. In 2024.

That's not an answer to my question - do you believe genocides are defined by numbers?

Given there is reasonable legal proof of the risk of genocide in Gaza, combined with the accusations of crimes against humanity, mass starvation, war crimes etc, you are very confident. Still haven't provided us with any of the sources for your opinions though...

EasterIssland · 21/11/2024 14:13

@Alltheprettyseahorses as a summary can you provide links that verify that
there is no genocide happening
thaf the number of killed children is lower than expected.

thanks

Lalaloveya · 21/11/2024 14:16

For as long as there have been genocides there have been genocide deniers.

There's no logic to it, clearly. Some people just feel that certain groups aren't entitled to human rights.
