Conflict in the Middle East
EasterIssland · 14/11/2024 15:49

Hopefully it’ll all go well. Im hoping the police doesn’t allow the radical ones from Israel to repeat what they did last week in Amsterdam and also It prevents any antisemitism and attacks from the local people.

when the basketball team visited my hometown , the police was making sure all Israeli supporters were walking together in and out of the stadium , so hopefully something like that will be done.

I really hope so. It will be the CRS in charge of the crowds, not known for their soft approach.

There are people from the Betar movement proudly posting that they are walking around Paris like this. They should have cancelled this game.

Paris tonight

Hope the people they're looking to fight don't come with knives

They should have cancelled this game.
I don't think they should have cancelled, it has to get played at some stage, but perhaps played behind closed doors.

Unbelievable! I am glad that security is going to be tight.

Protesters show off bats ahead of feared unrest before France vs Israel match

Thousands of police have been deployed to deal with potential unrest.

You're right actually, it's not fair on the players and spectators at home for it to be cancelled.

Hardly anyone seems to have shown up. The stadium is almost empty from posts I've seen on twitter.

BelleHathor · 15/11/2024 07:40

Good article, much respect to the French who boycotted the match, it sends a clear message which can't be misrepresentated:
"There were fewer than 20,000 people in the Stade de France at the Uefa Nations League match, making it the lowest attendance recorded in the 80,000-capacity stadium."

Auvergne63 · 15/11/2024 15:03

As a French citizens, I am glad that some of my compatriots boycotted the match and that it passed fairly peaceful.
I wonder why the Amsterdam police did not planned like the French did.

Perhaps the French learnt from the Amsterdam situation?

Although I think you are more strict on what can happen anyway, in that you are one of the few that does not allow pro Palestine protests?

Maybe.
The French government might have banned protests. In reality, they have not stopped them. They know better than trying to stop French citizens marching.
