Today of all days we must remember this young woman and call for her release.

Her mother spoke movingly yesterday at the memorial to the October 7th Victims.

The BBC appear to have forgotten her. It's sad. You'd imagine a British news site to cover this young person still held hostage.

Overnight the missiles into Haifa from hezbollah ignored but reported attacks on Beirut. It feels very one sided.

I use different channels now.

AniMaamin · 07/10/2024 13:25

Agreed its upsetting there is no call for her (as 'one of us') to be released. It's also not a shock.

Many don't want to see her plight and many don't see her as 'one of us'.

We know why.

I was so surprised to read there was still a British hostage the other day. It feels like they've been totally forgotten in the chaos of everything going on. The whole point of the BBC was unbiased reporting.

I know. How many British people know there is a British female held hostage. Strange. If this young female was held in any other circumstances, say in China, then it would be reported.

AniMaamin · 07/10/2024 14:32

Agreed @OctoberOctopus .
This thread is to raise more awareness.
A British young woman is being held. We have to shout for her release.

I had no idea there was a British woman being held and I've been following what's been happening to some extent. Where/how can we call for her release? Want to help 😟

AniMaamin · 07/10/2024 14:48

Writing to your local MP and sharing Emily's plight on social media is a start that I'm making. Thank you for caring.

I don't know what to make of it (the resounding feeling is sadness) but that bit below a thread that shows you 'similar threads' is for once completely blank... I've never ever seen it blank in my time on here.

It makes me realise there are no other threads about Emily or the other British Hostages at all.
There was and now is not enough exposure for them.

BRING EMILY HOME

dual nationality ?

Why?
This is a young woman victim of kidnapping who has been gone for a year.

Me too. I had absolutely no idea.
Poor family. Poor families.

Why do you want to know?

Irrelevant unless her other nationality was Palestinian and of doubtful significance even then since the UK does not recognise Palestine as a state.

CurlyKD · 07/10/2024 17:48

I take it that's no then

AniMaamin · 07/10/2024 17:53

She's a British Citizen. I know she was obviously in Israel when she was abducted. Does it matter if she ever lived here? (I don't know if she has)
I take it from the fact you have only asked that question and again doubled down that you think she's not 'one of us'.
Exactly the reason I'm posting about lack of awareness.

Same here. We are 'lucky' to get European channels that are more balanced and informative in their reporting. UK media is dreadfully one sided. Looking at you BBC, Sky, Guardian ...

She's a duel citizen. It's up to her where she lives. Although currently she is held hostage, which is the point you appear to have missed.

AniMaamin · 07/10/2024 19:55

@OctoberOctopus you put it much better than I could. Thank you.

On a thread about a British hostage

That's bad

quantumbutterfly · 08/10/2024 09:49

What more can I say?

Bring her home, to her family. Bring them all home.

She is a young girl, held by psychopaths, God knows how, God knows where, and if I was her mum I would leverage any option to save her. My heart is still breaking for Hersh's mum, but that's the thing about people who still cling onto their humanity. You think your heart can't hurt anymore and then something happens to prove you wrong.

Am Yisrael Chai. Bring them home.

Thanks for this thread OP. I’m not surprised by the low number of comments, this entire board is overrun by posters like the one who questioned Emily’s British roots.

leli · 08/10/2024 15:50

Was sad to hear this yesterday but why didn’t I know already about a British hostage. BBC are negligent in not publicising this case. Heartbreaking.

LochKatrine · 08/10/2024 16:53

It saddens, but doesn't surprise me that this hasn't been publicised more. This is literally the first I've heard of it, and it's been a whole year.
Dreadful.

It is.

Everything is Israel bad.

Little commentary around hamas, hezbollah or the Houthis. It's all down to Israel. Someone suggested that when Israel attacks these groups, the groups have the right to attack back.....completely oblivious to the almost daily attacks on Israel since 7th October in support of terrorist scum. You couldn't make it up.

She's British. And she's young, female, and held hostage in a war zone, after being abducted by terrorists. Her home address shouldn't be the first thing people should be worrying about.
