The first step towards holding them accountable within the US justice system. The charges also recognise the antisemitic motivation, the weaponisation of sexual violence, and the murders of the innocent people taken hostage.

Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar is among those charged

Good. About time

That's good news, there really hasn't been enough legal methods of justice used throughout this conflict. Hopefully it will be the first if many.

About time too. It took almost 11 months from October 7th to do this.

Sinwar is an evil mam and as the leader of Hamas needs prosecution for his crimes.

"The defendants were responsible for "financing and directing a decades-long campaign to murder American citizens and endanger the security of the United States".
The group also "led Hamas's efforts to destroy the state of Israel and murder civilians in support of that aim".
He noted the 7 October attack on Israel by Hamas, in which the group "murdered entire families" in "the deadliest massacre of Jews since the Holocaust".
"They murdered the elderly and they murdered young children. They weaponised sexual violence against women, including rape and genital mutilation."
He added that during the attack the group "murdered over 1,200 people" and "perpetrated the deadliest massacre of Jews since the Holocaust"."

I think most genuine people know the aims of Hamas. It's time the leaders were brought to justice.

From the article it looks like the charges were filed a while ago but only authorised to be shared publicly now.
