I was so sorry to read of this in the news today. The lad who lost his left forearm when Hamas threw grenades into the shelter, and was then seen boarding a truck to Gaza. My heart goes out to his parents. To be brutally killed, along with five other beautiful souls, just as there was a chance of being rescued is so typical of this unfathomably cruel situation.

What we know about the six hostages who Israel says were killed by Hamas in Gaza | CNN

The bodies of six hostages held by Hamas have been recovered in an underground tunnel in Gaza, Israel’s military said Sunday. Here’s what we know about them.

As all 6 had been shot in the head, the assumption they were murdered by Hamas psychopaths is hard to challenge. There will be no ceasefire while there is even one murdering, raping Hamas terrorist still breathing.

Devastating. They were killed just before troops reached them. They survived all this time. Awful news. RIP.

Mumsntfan1 · 01/09/2024 13:58

So sad. Hersh (z"l)'s parents fought so hard to get him home. May his memory be a blessing.

Dulra · 01/09/2024 15:13

Heartbreaking and their horrific brutal end will bring no comfort to their families. May their souls rest in peace free from the fear and trauma of their last few months on earth 💔

AbsoluteYawns · 01/09/2024 15:16

So sad. They never had a chance against those murdering scum Hamas.

Unbearable ... what are we dealing with here, we must ask ourselves.
All young and smiling...murdered by thugs.

So shocked to read this. His parents, especially his mother, have been so eloquent and passionate. I cannot imagine what they are going through now, after the months of hell they have already endured.

May his memory be a blessing.

So tragic. What a waste of a young life

HoppityBun · 01/09/2024 16:15

I’m so, so sorry

JaneDoeHere · 01/09/2024 16:19

Yes, I remember immediately after his capture she talked about having to keep in mind at all times that he could be alive and he could be dead. I suppose this resolves that unbearable heartache for her, in the most tragic way.

Apparently he was doing a lot to encourage soccer matches with Palestinian footballers. It seems the liberal, enlightened are paying a heavy price for their government's failures, and they must be feeling deeply betrayed on all sides.

This is ridiculous (I am very much of the "don't fret about what you can't influence" mindset, but not a day goes by when I don't think about the peaceful, kind people whose lives were ruined on 7 October. It breaks my heart.

I hadn't seen this, this is devastating news. My heart goes out to them all and their families. I can't fathom how anyone could do this to another human. It's heartbreaking.

TurquoiseDress · 02/09/2024 12:28

This is so heartbreaking 💔

I had not read about his story until yesterday, have followed many of the other hostages stories in the media

Can't stop thinking about it at the moment

So awful for his parents, so close to being rescued and after all he's been through including losing his arm

Sad
Limesodaagain · 02/09/2024 14:33

Heartbreaking. Beautiful young hopeful people with so much to give. Hamas are monsters.

Heartbreaking

GoldPlayer · 02/09/2024 14:38

Agree, this is so utterly heartbreaking. Sending love to their families and community

Unbelievable, callous but typical of Hamas. Some call them resistance but anyone who cares for humanity calls them terrorists.

Rest in peace and thoughts with the families of these innocent hostages.

Yes, a gentle and peace wanting young person. Sad.

I'm not sure what I call them to be honest. I didn't know such evil existed in the world, or at least not in more than a handful of sadistic psychopaths. Knowing that the attacks involved thousands of Hamas and civilians, and seeing how Shani Louk's body was paraded and defiled in the streets, has really rocked my faith in humanity. I suppose I've been naive, but 7 October shocked me to my core and I am not sure I will ever see the world through the same eyes. I can't imagine what it must be like for Israelis.

I felt like that too. A festival full of young people, a kibbutz with peace loving individuals who pose no threat. Cruel. When I realised ordinary citizens took part in the rape, torture and hostage taking, I was horrified. Ordinary people cheering and sharing this online, like it was something joyful yet it was pure evil.

Makes you think. Nothing justified that, no matter how hard people try. That's not resistance.
