It’s just beyond awful. The idf have dropped leaflets telling Palestinians to move. There is no where for them to go. This is beyond awful. More children will be blown apart, more families destroyed and all for what? Sick beyond what I ever imagined.

The idf have no plan apart from indiscriminate killing.

https://x.com/drtruthe/status/1789311217259139492?s=61&t=nilGqPeurpC5xVqZAZdZog - this image is very disturbing. I don’t want to upset anyone. The people who really need to see it are those still defending the actions of Israel. And I can show them thousands more images if they think this is an unfortunate isolated incident. This is what idf WANT to do. It is the purpose of the bombs.

@ConnieCounter "What did the 15000 dead children do to deserve this?"

What did 1,200 innocent Israeli men. women & children deserve to be killed after being burned, tortured, raped and humiliated ??

I'm not suggesting it's OK that they were killed though. That poster is saying that Israel "has the right" to kill tens of thousands of civilians. Unbelievable.

I don't think they are saying that at all.

They are saying that Hamas should pay for their crimes and I agree,

Well I know you agree 🙄

You can't just ignore the tens of thousands of dead civilians. I know you don't care about them, you said they were "collateral damage" which speaks volumes. But I think they're important.

It's obvious you've never been in the military and therefore do not understand the meaning of "collateral damage."

Collateral damage refers to unintended harm or injury caused by a specific action or event. Specifically, it often refers to civilian casualties resulting from military operations.

For example, during armed conflicts, civilians who are not directly targeted may suffer injuries or death due to the impact of military actions.

The term highlights the unintended consequences that can occur when attempting to achieve a particular goal or objective, especially in situations where the primary target is not civilians.

In essence, collateral damage underscores the complexity and ethical challenges associated with warfare and other high-risk activities

No. I think your choice of this euphemism says a lot about you. And I still think the term is awful.

But Hamas aren't paying for their crimes are they? The innocent people are paying for their crimes, i forget what article I was looking at the other day but apparently the IDF have only eradicated a small percentage of Hamas, a completely pointless exercise by Israel

I believe the US army coined it as a nicer way to say "we blew lots of civilians to bits". You are choosing to still use it though.

A different viewpoint here

https://www.ft.com/content/2106fb53-64bb-4f2f-86fc-d2b772c0a8d1

Hamas has been shattered. Now it is fighting to survive

With its fighting ranks decimated and Gaza in ruins, the militant group’s goal is to avoid elimination

Before I opened the article I bet that the figures would all be from Israel. Correct.

You can't believe a word the IDF says. They count every Gazan man as a Hamas fighter ffs.

Oh ffs this is what happens in a war.

Do you think they sit down and try and beat each other at scrabble?

There is nothing nice about any war.

No it's not actually. Most wars involve 2 armies, most wars allow refugees to flee, most wars don't involve the deliberate targeting of education and healthcare facilities, or refugee camps, most wars don't involve the deliberate starvation of millions of people.

This isn't a war. I'll give you a clue. It starts with G.

According to US intelligence only 30% of Hamas have been killed and 65% of their tunnels are still intact, look it up, and of course you're always going to have new recruits so yes a pointless exercise which will cost the lives of thousands of innocents

Edited

Well seeing as 70+ % of Palestinians support Hamas that figure can't be far wrong.

Some confusion over figures it seems;

ConnieCounter · 24/05/2024 19:29

Just a word about the number of children killed....they are classing children as any under 18s. So many of the teenage terrorists who have been trained from a young age are coming under ""children killed" when they are actually terrorists.

Dulra · 24/05/2024 19:39

threeoldbicycles · 24/05/2024 16:52

Israel didn't show pictures of dead people and most of the footage was reserved for specific audiences such as journalists. None has been posted on the internet.

Oct 7 was a deliberate terrorist attack on innocent civilians not collateral damage from a war.

Israel didn't show pictures of dead people and most of the footage was reserved for specific audiences such as journalists.

And Israel won't allow journalists into Gaza. No one wants to have to rely on videos from twitter but there are no independent journalists on the ground to report what is happening. How else can Palestinians let the world know what is going on? Why won't Israel allow journalists in? Why have many that were there being imprisoned or killed?

Under 18 is considered a child why is it unusual to classify a child as a child?

I find it a bit off that Israeli soldiers are described as 'young girls', 'teenagers', 'kids', I even saw 'school girls' on a thread before but under 18s in Gaza are teenage terrorists. If any of these under 18s are actually 'terrorists' then surely they deserve our compassion as they are indoctrinated and abused children.

If young Israeli soldiers are given the but they are just kids treatment then surely this should also apply to Palestinians who actually are children and have clearly had horrendous childhoods if they have spent them 'being trained'. What a life they have had to endure, living through multiple bombardments, no way to escape and a childhood spent being abused by terrorists.

Limelemonx · 24/05/2024 19:46

They may be technically children but they are also terrorists...many of the perpetrators of October 7th were under 18. They were obviously indoctrinated to hate Jews ( many of them were probably in terrorist training camps from the age of 7) but that doesn't excuse what they did. To say " children killed" makes people think of innocent children....when many of those in the numbers are not. Rapists and murders are not innocent children.

"most wars allow refugees to flee,"

It isn't Israel keeping the gates shut at Rafah, that's Egypt.

"most wars don't involve the deliberate targeting of education and healthcare facilities, or refugee camps"

most wars don't have the enemy hiding in such areas

"most wars don't involve the deliberate starvation of millions of people."

Have a look at the Yemen War 10,00 killed and millions starving.

In the Sudan - 5,000 killed and 5.9 million displaced.

The following analysis has been carried out by the Centre for Information Resilience (CIR), a research body partly funded by the British government, which is gathering open-source evidence about the fighting in Sudan.

"We've documented 89 fires, which damaged 68 villages since 15 April, which is a huge amount. In some of these, it is small buildings that have been targeted. But in some of them, whole villages that have been wiped out. That scale is enormous when we think upon the impact on civilians."
"What we're seeing is a pattern of abuses, a pattern of villages being burnt, one after the other, specifically in Darfur, which is where we're seeing some of the heaviest violence outside of Khartoum."
"Twenty years ago, hundreds of thousands of people were killed in Darfur amid fighting between non-Arab rebel groups and a militia known as the Janjaweed, which later grew into the RSF. Some Janjaweed leaders and even the president at the time, Omar al-Bashir, have been indicted by the ICC on charges of genocide and crimes against humanity, which they have denied.
It is feared that similar atrocities are being committed in the region once more, along the same ethnic fault-lines."

I could post more, but this is enough to say it's a case of "No Jews, no news"
