I can't do this anymore

Firstly, I am sorry if this is in the wrong thread because I am not Muslim.
I can't bear what is happening in Gaza.
Why is there so much hatred towards the Palestinians?
How can people justify what is happening?
I have marched, written to my MP and donated but I don't know what else to do.
I am not religious so praying is not an option.
What else can I do?

The hatred is not for the Palestinians but for Hamas which is a terrorist organisation with links to Iran, Hezbollah and Isis. Do you understand what they did to the Israelis on 7th October and how they are treating the hostages?

therealcookiemonster · 18/04/2024 19:19

I understand how you feel. we all feel helpless. we can't even donate money for aid as it's not getting through.

however it's not just Muslims in Palestine but many Christians too who have suffered.
@Rocknrollstar I am not even going to engage with you. go take your hatred somewhere else please

Thank you. You are right regarding Christians in Palestine.

I guess the only thing to do is not forget them and to speak up for them.

Speccybibliophile · 18/04/2024 21:57

To be honest, @Auvergne63, you even making this thread and all the actions you've taken as well as the fact that you feel so strongly about the whole incredibly sad crisis, is a massive deal. It may not feel like a lot, but we feel like we and by extension our Palestinian brothers and sisters have so few allies especially in this issue so thank you.

Today i read that the idf are using drones to terrorise the civilians by blasting out screaming babies and women screams flying over the camps doing psychological torture and baiting them so people could investigate and shoot them. Whoever you are, whatever you believe in, no human should endure such atrocities in this day and age.

deconstructingKaren · 18/04/2024 22:13

Thousands of children have been killed in Gaza, it is desperately upsetting.

Keep on doing what you're doing. Keeping informed on this matter is sickening, I agree. The more you learn the easier it is to despair.
But the Palestinians have been able to alert the world to the nightmare they're in where they're guinea pigs in testing every kind of weapon in a war enabled and perpetuated by wealthy, far-off countries. People in equivalent situations in the Democratic Republic of Congo, for example, haven't achieved what the Palestinians have in showing the world (some of) what is being done to them.
There has been an uptick in US citizens interested on going a partial or full tax strike as they find out what their taxes are being used for in Palestine in particular and West Asia in general. People all over the world are taking an interest and pushing back.
Keep going!

there is of course boycotting, I would suggest boycotting Google would be a good start.

@Auvergne63 hi, you have already done alot and thank you for that.I personally feel that there is a overwhelming majority that do feel alot of sympathy for the Palestinians.

One other thing that you could possibly do if you wanted is contact any reputable local charities and see if you can get involved in fundraising for Gaza.

That's great idea! I will look into it.

Really? Do you have any links?

Some of these posts are not appropriate for the muslim mumsnetters board and are better posted on the Conflict in the Middle East one.

There is such hate for Muslims, even for innocents being murdered in Gaza, that this board should provide respite from that.

ImpishOrAdmirable · 19/04/2024 08:28

Thanks to OP for the post. x

A new low even for the IDF. I didn't think it was possible. Imagine blasting out the sound of distressed children to lure people out in order to kill them? There are no words for this level of depravity. And add it to the list of war crimes if there's room for any more.

I agree OP. I'm despairing too. I'm also not muslim but find the Islamophobia and dehumanisation of Palestinians appalling. I also find those who continue to support Israel's slaughter hard to be around here.

I live in a country with pretty much universal support for Palestine so this place is a shock to the system for sure.

PurpleChrayn · 19/04/2024 10:22

I feel the same about the Israeli hostages, and the atrocities of October 7. I haven't slept properly since then, and have developed an autoimmune condition from worrying and friends and family who are under constant rocket fire from Gaza.

Our friend lost his 12-year-old twins on Kibbutz Beeri. Couldn't have a proper funeral for one of them because there weren't enough remains.

Yesterday I saw a video of civilian Palestinians dragging Yarden Bibas into Gaza, and it broke me.

I pray every day that Hamas will release the hostages and stand down so this war can be over.

TextureSeeker · 19/04/2024 12:57

I feel for you. I'm in Ireland and once I don't look at mumsnet all I see is overwhelming support for Palestinians, Palestinian flags, a government that speaks out against Israel even though it makes Israel get their knickers in a twist, our taoiseach has been very clear that we find Netanyahus actions 'repulsive'. I can't imagine what it must be like to live under a government that condones war crimes.

All I can advise really is to take a break from social media for a while and surround yourself with good, loving people to recharge ❤️ Or maybe come to Ireland for a holiday!

So why are the IDF indiscriminately killing civilians and destroying infrastructure? And don't trot out that tired and absurd lie that Hamas are hiding in refugee playgrounds.

I'm surprised by this...I find most of the posts on this board to be overwhelmingly pro Palestinian.

Yeah. People in Ireland don't make excuses for killing 1000s of children, don't make light of premature babies being left to die, don't make excuses for Israels brutal occupation, don't make excuses for the execution of children in the street, don't make excuses for the killing of aid workers, don't make excuses for settlers etc all of which I have seen on mumsnet.
