I thought it was time for a positive thread in this section.

This is an opportunity for posters to say what they are doing to work for peace.

I'll start by flagging up this Nottingham initiative

https://salaamshalomkitchen.co.uk/

Salaam Shalom Kitchen Nottingham - A joint Muslim / Jewish charity project

Salaam Shalom Kitchen is a joint Muslim/Jewish project based in Nottingham - serving hot meals and providing a friendly environment to those in need.

Love the name! Salaam Shalom, beautiful 😍

@Parkingt111 reminds me of that nisa-nashim network. 2 of my kids are learning arabic on duolingo, lots of similarities to Ivrit I think.

@Humptydumptybounced I pray for peace❤I appreciate not everyone will see this as an 'action', but as a believing Jew, I believe G-d hears every prayer, and that prayer has a positive effect on the world.

@EllaDisenchanted yes there are many similarities, I just found out that Maya means water is that right? In Arabic it's 'Maa' or the plural is 'miyah'

Oh definitely I do think prayers count as an action. May all of your prayers be fulfilled

Edited

its connected- mayim is the Hebrew word for water (it’s a plural). I think the name Maya can also mean water, but in speech, mayim would be used. Maayan, a similar name means water spring - it’s all the same root.

-Amen

Is this initiative running anywhere else? do you know?

Jonismorf · 10/03/2024 15:22

What a shame that a thread advocating peace has only 7 posts after 3 days. That really speaks volumes.

As far as I am aware, this is a local initiative and not linked to any other organisation

However, you could always give them a call and find out.

Yes, it's very disappointing.

I was hoping to have some more replies from other areas.
