"Derailing" threads

I'm a bit baffled.

In this section what counts as a "thread derailment"?

On some threads some people post "off topic" posts that are allowed to stand.

On others, someone posts something and there is a immediate "pile-on" and they are told that they are "derailing". This is usually followed by a load of nasty remarks and sarcasm, so mods have to remove the posts. (which "derails" the thread anyway)

It seems to me it's "one rule for one" etc

In this section I almost feel threads should come with a header: Pro Palestine, Pro Israel and All (discussion).

There are posters that aren’t happy with the threads that have mainly stay on the topic and they post their side of the story. They have been asked by others to please not to continue like that as people want to continue with the topic rather than fights and there are clearly threads would benefit more. They’ve ignored the pleas to stop and continued derailing. I tend to report those posters as they are there basically to create fights. And mn is against derailment so tends to delete them

On this board derailment usually means someone’s started talking about the other side’s POV. Sometimes this is tolerated, usually it’s not.

I think it depends on the ones who are on it. Some come on to troll. Other genuine questions get shouts of derail by the more polarised posters.

I'm pro peace and not pro one side or another.

I tend to read and tend to not post, it's pointless posting much. There are hundreds and hundreds of threads saying pretty much the same thing. Perhaps posters should only have a maximum of a couple of threads on same topic running.

Sometimes yiu see posts from x Instagram and Tic toc unsubstantiated and repeating same claims over and over. Not naming since not allowed. Perhaps claims should be proven.

I avoid most now. Best to stay on other threads since fixed views. They lose people in my opinion

I would agree with both these points.

if it’s boring for you imagine how tiring it can be for Palestinians who are losing everything (even their life)
Or Israelis who have to hide because of rockets

1st world problems … getting involved in thread nobody forces you to get involved and feeling it’s all becoming tired

Actually I wonder how/if the hostages are still surviving after so many days. I wonder about noa, kefir, naama....

I was talking about the topic of this thread, not the situation in Gaza/Israel.

This is about "derailment" which is something you have just done.
