Is there an organisation that is trustworthy I.e. where funds are used appropriately?

I know this is not the best time or day to ask but I’m feeling a sudden sense of urgency!

Medical Aid for Palestinians.

sunshinesupermum · 31/12/2023 23:42

Magen Dovid Alom is Israels national blood and emergency service. They help all Israeli citizens no matter which religion. They are also in dire need of donations. Thank you.

Croissantsandpistachio · 31/12/2023 23:45

Yes MAP are good.

Red Cross and Red Crescent are the same thing; if you donate to the Red cross they pass the donation to the local organisation (Red Crescent in this case).

You could also look at some of the NGOs that have a long term presence, e.g. Save the Children, ActionAid, Care. And Islamic Relief.

Doctors Without Borders terrific not only for their medical work but they also bear witness and bring the experiences of their staff into public view - very important when the world’s media are not allowed into Gaza and so many Palestinian journalists have been killed.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm · 01/01/2024 00:35

Magen David Adom

Seconded!

I've a personal friend who works for them and used to do assignments in Gaza.

Donations might not, specifically, go to Gaza but: my friend is currently in Sudan, and there's a genocide happening there, too! It just doesn't make as many headlines! They deserve our attention, compassion and money as much as Gazans!

queenofarles · 01/01/2024 09:02

I see lots of videos of people in Gaza sharing what sort of donations are getting through, for the time being it’s seems mainly Red cross , UNRWA and nearby countries are more successful in getting Aid in , for example I’ve seen a video of someone sharing the biscuits and dates they’ve received from Egypt , Saudi Arabia , Oman, UAE ..etc

World Food Programme
Choose Love

Specifically for Gaza:

Palestinian Children’s Relief Fund

Inara and Gaza Kinder Relief also fundraise for specific children to evacuate them and provide medical treatment. They recently raised $30,000 for little Ahmed who lost his family and both his legs to get the treatment he needs so they are a great one to donate to.

Also the UNFPA is the United Nations reproductive and sexual health agency and one part of what they do is support women giving birth in conflict areas around the globe by providing emergency birth kits. Within Gaza and other countries as well.

If you do a little research they are probably the best way to get your money spent where you want it to definitely go

Medical aid for Palestine (MAP) has over the years been very controversial to say the least. This is just one of many complaints and articles I have seen. It mentions some of the more iffy things it has been accused but if you do some research you will find more. Some just anti Israel stuff but others on the general Jew hate side. Basically just research who you give your money too or stick with the ones above for now
