It’s good news for ordinary people on both sides this weekend! Life saving aid, people held without fair trial released and hostages set free.

One of the young men released today was arrested for throwing molotov cocktails (explosives) at soldiers. He immediately popped on the green Hamas headband and celebrated with them. It was on the news and there for all to see.

A bit different than a young girl released to her father after being kidnapped and held for 50 days

Well he was released for said crime. He did put a hamas headband on and was being carried by Hamas so what's your point? It's there to see.

While a lot of people detained by the Israelis may have committed some form of crime they are detained indefinitely without trial which is problematic.
Also a lot of them are apparently women and children not young men with home made bombs but it’s ok because the kids are probably going to be terrorists anyway. That is also problematic.

I started this particular thread on the assumption it was discuss hostages not detainees, nor to talk about the alleged iniquities of the Israeli prison system. People can start a separate thread about that if they wish.

For the avoidance of doubt I shall ask MNHQ to change the title.

Why don't you just start a thread for prisoners or detainees or whatever being released. Why post of the thread for hostages? Or is it to detail? I think as other poster suggested I will just ignore and read posts about hostages in future. There are numerous pro Palestine support threads. Any chance that this could be about hostages?

If this is the only Russian hostage the Russians will be disappointed - they had 6 or 7 taken hostage and Hamas said they'd 'look for them' which didn't sound very promising at the time

I suppose because the two topics are linked as they are being exchanged for each other. I’m not trying to upset anyone but that post by a pp saying everyone in Israel gets a fair trail because they’re a democracy just set me off again.

'They'd look for them' that doesn't sound promising! Although I understand that some hostages were taken by another terrorist organisation and some by Palestinian men (unaffiliated).

I think I'll just ignore posts not about hostage release in future since that's what I want to find out about. I can find out people's view about the Israel government on other threads.
