The last elderly woman is Judi Weinstein, who is 70. I’m not sure who the other two ‘eligible’ women are.
It seems that they ran out of people to release under the current deal. So a new one needs to be negotiated.

Kaffeebitte · 01/12/2023 12:47

This is from Aviva Klompas on X, who has been quite reliable.
Hamas is still holding 137 hostages
➡️ 117 men and 20 women
➡️ 126 are Israelis and 11 are foreign nationals
➡️ 2 are children under the age of 18
➡️ 10 are seniors over the age of 75

also this page has a list , Hamas is releasing names of hostages who are dead, but I don’t think these are confirmed so are included:

Stomacharmeleon · 01/12/2023 12:56

@Kaffeebitte I am surprised not more pressure on the 'foreign national' front. Or does it depend where they come from?

Embelline · 01/12/2023 13:39

@Kaffeebitte I wondered this but then if they have them and they are alive, surely it would work better in their favour to share this information rather than saying they're dead? I'm still hopeful though.
Burning those poor boys, it's all so horrendously brutal and awful. And poor Mia looked absolutely traumatised, much like a lot of the other hostages. It doesn't bear thinking about what they've been going through.

The whole situation has weighed heavily, from the innocents in Gaza to the poor families murdered and taken hostage from Israel. The whole situation really does make you lose faith in humanity doesn't it. What have we, as humans, become?!

I really hope there is a way to start the ceasefire again and free the remaining hostages but I agree with previous posters that it sounds like Hamas have run out of hostages for the moment - I'm hoping this is due to not being able to locate them rather than anything more sinister.

My heart dropped when I heard the ceasefire was over, even though I was expecting it.

This was sadly reported today

kibbutz in southern Israel has said one of its elderly residents, who was kidnapped on 7 October, has been killed in Gaza.
In a post on Facebook, the account for Kibbutz Nir Oz says 85-year-old Arye Zalmanovich died in Hamas captivity after being kidnapped on 7 October.
The post paying tribute to the father of two and grandfather to five, describes him as a "man of the earth" who worked in agriculture and with crops for his entire life.
Nir Oz was the site of one of the worst massacres committed by Hamas during the attacks on southern Israel.

Iwantcakeeveryday · 01/12/2023 14:07

May he rest in peace, how sad he died there in captivity. I feel traumatised just reading about all this so I can;t imagine how those actually in it feel.

Ofra Keidar is also 70.
Maya Goren was 56 but I've seen reports this morning that she has been killed, sadly.

The other women are all aged 18-30 - I'm guessing they weren't covered by the deal, or that Israel asked for them next but Hamas refused.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 01/12/2023 17:26

I read this

"Romi Gonen was shot by terrorists before being taken captive to Gaza. One of the released hostages shared, "She is seriously injured but she was seen this week and she is alive."

If she's seriously injured why didn't they release her as one of the first?

Has the poor young woman who was passed around the terrorists with blood stained jogging bottoms been released. That poor woman. I hope she survived.

That’s so sad. How awful to end his life there. I also feel awful for all the families whose loved ones weren’t released and now the ceasefire has ended. Hopefully the sides negotiating can get something agreed on so that this horror can end!

localnotail · 01/12/2023 21:53

I heard someone saying something horrible today - that Hamas were not able to release any more female and children hostages because there are no live ones left. Their last offer before the end of ceasefire were 7 hostages and 3 bodies - a lot of people assumed that it would be Bibas mum and babies - instead of 10 live hostages...Which Israel declined.

I know Hamas killed quite a few people already - there is a steady trick of news confirming deaths of hostages - and a lot of people who were assumed kidnapped could have been dead already, as Hamas dragged a lot of bodies back to Gaza after the massacre. No one knows because Hamas seem to really relish this kind of psychological games - enjoying relatives not knowing whether their loved ones are dead or alive, giving false hope and lying.

Zoflorabore · 01/12/2023 22:08

Another one who has been thinking about the girl in the blood stained joggers. Does anyone know her identity? It’s also hard to see how old she is, assuming over 18?

i hope the men are all still alive but I fear they aren’t.

Stomacharmeleon · 01/12/2023 22:10

@localnotail I must admit I heard (at the beginning of the conflict) that Hamas had booby trapped bodies from the massacre and left them within sight of the IDF before the ground invasion.

Naama Levy, age 19.

She took part in a 'Hands of Peace' project that brought together American, Israeli and Palestinian children. She had just begun her military service.

I heard that, too. I guess we might never know.

Someone working towards and hoping for peace taken. A gentle, kind, woman.

I imagine seeing the way the hostages were dragged around and treated, some would have died.

The names are now all appearing as 'dead'. Now that they appeared to run out if living hostages there are lots to be accounted for still.

Hamas have to go, otherwise they will repeat again and again as their leaders state.

Sadly this isn't unknown - Russian troops invading Ukraine do the same booby-trapping bodies of soldiers and civilians

Efacsen · 02/12/2023 07:44

These are the 7 people confirmed dead yesterday

Eliyahu Margalit
Mia Goren
Ronen Engel
Aryeh Zalmanovich
Ofra Keider
Guy Iluz
Ofir Tzarfati

mids2019 · 02/12/2023 09:04

I think you can't underestimate the psychological trauma of the victims and we will probably never know truly what they went through during captivity. This is possibly a good thing as I guess those held maybe wish their experience to be private but I think there has to be the assumption that they were not 'well kept' at all. A lot of the released looked broken to me.

What will mar any celebration of release is the fact there will be months or years of therapy ahead.

I've just had a huge argument with DH about the conflict, and feel horrible. I could hear him minimising the suffering of those attacked and October 7th, and I can't bear it.

Many do. I've come across so many apologists for Hamas. But ....

What Hamas did is barbaric and they will do it again. They were filming themselves enjoying themselves like it was a party whilst butchering people and shouting God is Great. Vile, sick creatures.

Sending 💐

Kaffeebitte · 02/12/2023 16:30

For me it’s all absolutely horrendously awful. I feel for everyone caught up in it - all the families and people who have had their lives changed over night , on both sides. Most people just go about their lives - yes the crowds at the releases were awful but that’s not most of the population , most of the population just live their lives. Look at the fascists here at the Cenotaph, you get awful people everywhere who form mobs.

Just so many broken lives, and the reasons behind it go back centuries. It seems impossible to stop.

Kaffeebitte · 02/12/2023 16:32

I think a pp said that the Hamas attacks made them feel such despair at humanity. I completely agree. How can this happen, I just can’t fathom. I know the history and I know the forces that have created it but none of us can ever understand the evil behind the massacres .

This is such a helpful post, honestly. I need to remember the suffering on both sides - it's ALL horrendous as you say.

I feel so hopeless about any solution though, the hate goes so deep.
