Conflict in the Middle East

Jeremy Corbyn on Piers Morgan

Just watched the trainwreck Jeremy Corbyn interview. I sometimes find it a bit annoying myself the way Piers talks over people when I want to hear what the guest has to say. However, surely Corbyn knows Piers' interview style? This is an experienced politician, and the question was very predictable. Had he not prepared an answer? Other guests manage the quick-fire style, still manage to get their point across and remain professional and confident - they don't just slump behind the table and sulk! Did he really think PM was going to say 'Oh, you're right! this interview style that's earned me millions is actually just bad journalism. I'll listen respectfully while you have your say and then you can ask me some questions'?

You can see why I Jez is my mastermind specialist subject can't you

@Trulywonderful Ha! You need to get an application into the BBC. Imagine the JVL hate-mob congregating outside the BBC waiting for you to depart while you're sitting there in the sacred black chair with 'no passes'.

Your first question is: Which hard rock magazine unexpectedly put Jeremy on the front cover?

That was a weird time.

I won't lie I had to Google that

Maybe it was take your grandfather to work day or something

He is more of an allotment magazine front cover person if you ask me (I apologise to any allotment people in advance)

I read the interview stood in Sainsbury's magazine section because I couldn't quite believe it. Or it might have been Asda, I'm not sure Sainsbury's stocks Kerrang.

It was when there was the whole cult thing with people chanting at Glastonbury.

True or false: There was a Jeremy Corbyn Annual?

etmoiandme · 19/11/2023 22:56

@noblegiraffe That one is definitely true - I remember his big rictus grin splashed across the front cover!

noblegiraffe · 19/11/2023 23:00

It really was batshit times. People were mad.

Oh my goodness you are doing me in

The perfect Christmas present for his fan club of cranks.

noblegiraffe · 19/11/2023 23:23

I didn't have to google for that picture, I already had it saved in my photos.

And this one.

All 12.9 million of them who voted for him in 2017 ?
Whilst of course, the 13.6 million that voted Conservative, were not.

noblegiraffe · 19/11/2023 23:36

I'm talking about a Kerrang! Corbyn cover and a Corbyn annual.

If you don't think that's batshit, would you like to buy a Corbyn annual?

quiteoldad · 19/11/2023 23:51

Don't you see? Those annuals were spoofs, very weak attempts at humour.

It's a pity that the critics of his policies are generally unable to formulate any reasoned arguments against those policies and are reduced to ad hominem. This is usually accompanied by personal slights and insults of those who believed those policies to be the right way forward.

I have said in previous posts I liked some of his policies

It is just him I didn't and don't like because of his behaviour.

The cranks are the people that think he can do no wrong despite the fact he has done a lot wrong. If you count yourself in that category it is up to you

See I knew they weren't just photos off the Internet, you own them don't you. Admit it you brought them because you wanted to see what the heck was inside

And the joke was....how obsessed people were with him.

The chants at Glastonbury?

Trulywonderful · 20/11/2023 00:03

Someone posted on another thread yesterday about how they had asked mumsnet to dealt a post saying something personal about Cobyn. Apparently they were upset mumsnet had chosen to let the post stand.

I can imagine that was myself and another poster saying he has a weird fetish for terrorist friends. Nobody else has said anything personal from what I can remember. Well apart from me again saying he looks like he belongs on an allotment but that is hardly very personal. I suppose they could be talking about another thread, so not a post on this one at all.

😂 I genuinely can't remember if I bought one for someone else. It's the sort of thing I might have done.

Do you ever think that all that time you spent berating me could have been spent bitching about Corbyn with me instead? Covid would have passed much more pleasantly....

quiteoldad · 20/11/2023 00:06

It is just him I didn't and don't like because of his behaviour.

And that's one of tbe major problems with modern day politics. It's been reduced to "liking" personalities. So much of it has become a popularity contest rather than contest of ideas. His behaviour wasn't great, and he made mistakes, but his policies were, and they were worth voting for.

Ian Anderson is not a pleasant person, yet he is an extremely talented musician. Do you refuse to read Roald Dahl or decline to listen to Wagner? Do you turn down a lift from anyone who drives a Ford ?

noblegiraffe · 20/11/2023 00:09

His education policies were shit. Totally shit.

And he was a stubborn, cantankerous man who interviewed really badly. He couldn't compromise. He was no-confidenced by his MPs and he refused to go.

He was a protester, not a leader.

ACynicalDad · 20/11/2023 00:09

I do hope he fails to get elected as an independent. There are a dozen others Starmer should remove the whip from, and in fairness a similar number of far right Tories Rishi should find ac way to get rid of.

Trulywonderful · 20/11/2023 00:15

I would have brought a stack of those as joke presents. Maybe that is why they printed them in the first place. They knew people like us would buy them for a joke and cranks would because they love Jez

Giraffe our debating (arguments) over schools during covid was great. I wouldn't change a thing. You don't say what you think and it didn't get messy, which is more than some arguments on threads lately

I didn't have anything to do with the get Giraffe kicked off mumsnet campaign by the way. I mean if I had you wouldn't still be here, I am that good 😂

quiteoldad · 20/11/2023 00:16

I do hope he fails to get elected as an independent.

It'll be interesting to see how Islington goes in the next election. My daughter and a close friend who was a councillor live down there. Apparently he has a large and loyal following.

Education policy included removing charitable status from independent schools. Did you not like that ?

etmoiandme · 20/11/2023 00:17

Ian Anderson and Roald Dahl never, to my knowledge, came close to holding a public office that would have allowed them to directly influence a whole country's domestic and foreign policy. (And thank fuck for that because the last thing this country needs tbqh is enforced listening to Jethro Tull).

quiteoldad · 20/11/2023 00:19

Right, that's it. You can say that Jeremy Corbyn sups from the devil's nipples, that he self abuses with his root vegetables, but I will not have you slagging off the music of Jethro Tull.

quiteoldad · 20/11/2023 00:22

or Joni Mitchell..........................
I know that you haven't...............yet, but that's just a warning.
As you seem to be so deranged as to probably do so in the future.
