Fifty Years War, Israelis and the Arabs Part 1
I was interested by this part in relation to the current war:
See 38:30 minutes in
Ariel Sharron had led an Israeli revenge/warning raid on an Arab village in retaliation for the murder of an Israeli woman by an Arab terrorist fighter whom that village was presumed to be harbouring. A trail had led from the murder to that village. His orders were “to blow up as many buildings as possible and create as many Arab casualties as possible”.
The village was to be taught a lesson. The entire village was attacked with grenades thrown into the houses. Entire families were buried in rubble.
You see villagers trying to dig out their families.
Just like now collective punishment was carried out and lead to criticism from America, France and Britain who wanted the troops punished.
But Ben Gurion told Sharon “It does not matter what the world says. It does not matter what anyone else says. The only thing that matters is that we can exist.“
