Documenting Israeli army racism and torture

Desertrose2023 · 15/11/2023 04:25

this thread is to document the racist, criminal and dehumanizing behaviour by the most “moral army in the world” both during its most recent bombardment of Gaza and across decades of military occupation in the West Bank.

to start, here is a video of Israeli soldiers chanting they will turn Gazans into Kebabs.

This is highly disrespectful 😢. You couldn't even write a faux "that's sad" and instead have just attempted to deflect attention away from the crime in question by posting about a completely unrelated domestic violence case 2 years ago? If you have nothing to add to the thread, please try to uphold a level of decorum.

Queucumber · 30/11/2023 13:39

It was background to why a woman might be killed by her own family. Not derailing.

As for your screenshot of articles about rape, have you actually read any of them?

Two of them refer to a 2006 case where a girl who lived on an army base - her father was a soldier - had sex with soldiers from the age of 11-14. It’s obviously rape as she was too young to give consent but the girls herself called it consensual. She is also most likely a Jewish Israeli.

One of your articles refers to an Israeli soldier, a woman, who was raped by a Palestinian inmate of an Israeli jail. A man convicted of murdering an alleged Israeli collaborator.

Queucumber · 30/11/2023 13:40

Girl.

‘to deflect attention away from the crime in question’

I provided a current link to state that members of the woman’s own family are suspects.

https://www.reddit.com/r/livepublicinterest/comments/186xbj4/the_youngest_palestinian_child_prisoner_in_the/

The youngest Palestinian child prisoner in the hostage deal was in a coma for a whole week after the IOF arrested him.

I read he returned from prison with a portion of his skull missing.

Fairtobefairohhhhhc · 30/11/2023 13:56

@treeees yes this is correct. I linked a video about him yesterday a hit further back. If it's still there

treeees · 30/11/2023 13:57

@Fairtobefairohhhhhc horrific. Poor child. 💔. Glad he is finally released though.

SomeCatFromJapan · 30/11/2023 13:59

Fairtobefairohhhhhc · 30/11/2023 13:59

Beautiful shahd sawwaf. She looks so much like my niece. As the description says. She will not get a minutes silence along side all the other citizens who have been killed.

Just found what @SomeCatFromJapan has mentioned

The woman’s father and brother were later arrested on suspicion of murder, Hebrew-language media reported.

If that’s true then my initial news was wrong

treeees · 30/11/2023 14:27

@EasterIssland in that context it might be worth asking for it to be removed.

It’s OK, I’ve seen this about the stabbing

I had seen the video of this horrific and tragic murder while her two children were watching. I had believed the stabbed was Israeli due to what I’d read.

Now having read this, it does seem possible to me that, rather than Israeli police lying, it could have been Palestinian family members who did this. It seems imo planned as they’d have known her routine to provide the getaway car. Whereas a random angry Israeli would not have prearranged thus.

So glad that MN rejected the pathetic censorship attempt to get this thread taken down. thanks to those who posted in defence of the thread.

back on topic, here is a testimony of a newly released Palestinian prisoner describing his time and the overall treatment of Palestinians in Israeli jails. Trigger warning, he describes torture and sexual abuse.

Hi all - if anyone mistakenly posts an article that turns out to be incorrect please ask MN to delete the post. this thread contains discussion and is raising awareness of the documented and horrific crimes by the IDF. For this reason it has been repeatedly targeted by posters trying to smear it as propaganda, because it makes uncomfortable reading. This makes it even more important to ensure anything we post here is factually correct and immune to such attempts. Thank you 🙏

I’ve asked mn to take down my previous comment few hours ago but haven’t heard back.

we all just need to be extra cautious now as some posters are waiting on any excuse to get this thread taken down

I never click on any links on mn. Well thats not true, i clicked on one earlier where a black man was berating congress for their treatment of Palestinians. I think his name was George something, it was brilliant. I think he is a politician, he was very good. Sorry I'm hazy in remembering but it was earlier today on mn. Anyway, i just wanted to say i never click on most of the links as i'm too frightened of what I'll see. Which is pathetic i know. But I'm so angry about this i don't think seeing actual footage or pictures of atrocities would help me. I feel a bit ashamed i can't even face what others are actually living through.

I am posting on very few threads now. I'm tired of the double standards.
I've seen so much mention of how certain threads are apparently targeted by pro-Palestinian posters, while the same echo chamber delight in calling anyone who criticises the Israeli government or IDF "dumb". Some of the comments recently have been vile, with rushes to justify them. I really can't even post in reply because it's such an awful mindset.
We need to have threads that everyone can post on without the personal insults, so this is good advice.

You shouldn’t be ashamed about that. It means you’re a normal person who can’t bear to see harm inflicted on others because you wouldn’t wish it on anyone.
Ive struggled with that, particularly with clicking on some of the videos/links I know involve children. For the most part I make the conscious choice to open the link even though I know it will upset me. I do it because I feel information is power and what I see better enables me to speak up to others about it. Not going to lie though, a lot of nights it means I have a good cry and hug my DC really tightly. I do take a break sometimes too and you should never feel bad about doing anything to protect your mental health. If you feel watching stuff will be too much for you then it’s ok to not do it.

@EasterIssland I saw that one on Twitter. Absolutely horrifying.

Also just saw this one posted on another thread.

From the horse's mouth: video interviews with the original Israelis who took part in the Nakba, their testimonials are terrifying, and yet they laugh while discussing their crimes. Please do watch and see for yourself.

https://twitter.com/CensoredMen/status/1729977996604322184

These Israelis took part in the 'Nakba'.
THIS is how Israel was formed.
Israel was formed through the rape of Palestinian women and children.
Israel was formed through the mass murder of innocent Palestinians.
Israel was formed through the torture of innocent Palestinians.
Israel was formed through the mass displacement of Palestinians who had lived in the land for generations.
THIS is how Israel was formed.
THIS is the history of Israel.

It's from the documentary Tantura, released in 2022
Synopsis
"The tape-recorded words "erase it" take on new weight in the context of history and war. After the U.N decided to partition Palestine into two separate independent Jewish and Arab states, and the state of Israel was established in 1948, local hostilities escalated to regional war and hundreds of Palestinian villages were depopulated in its aftermath. Israelis know this as the War of Independence. Palestinians call it "The Nakba" (the Catastrophe). In the late 1990s, graduate student Teddy Katz researched a large-scale massacre that had allegedly occurred in the village of Tantura in 1948. His work later came under attack and his reputation was ruined, but 140 hours of audio testimonies remain.

Director Alon Schwarz revisits former Israeli soldiers of the Alexandroni Brigade and confronts them with Teddy's recorded audiotape interviews as well as visiting former Palestinian residents of Tantura in an effort to re-examine what happened in the village and explore why "The Nakba" is taboo in Israeli society. The now elderly ex-soldiers recall unsettling acts of war while disquietly pausing at points they either don't want to remember or won't speak of. Audio from Katz's 20-year-old interviews cuts through the silence of self-preservation and exposes the ways in which power, silencing, and protected narratives can sculpt history. The film provides a rare look at Israeli society's first-generation and how the country's founding myth has shaped reality for generations. The film brings never before seen archival footage from the war of 1948 alongside intimate interviews with ex-Israeli soldiers, Palestinian residents, and historians.
