Documenting Israeli army racism and torture

Desertrose2023 · 15/11/2023 04:25

this thread is to document the racist, criminal and dehumanizing behaviour by the most “moral army in the world” both during its most recent bombardment of Gaza and across decades of military occupation in the West Bank.

to start, here is a video of Israeli soldiers chanting they will turn Gazans into Kebabs.

I find this distasteful. A 12 year old boy was kept alone for 16 days. he was forced to watch videos of the massacre on October 7th. The children were threatened with guns if they cried and still speak in whispers after release. They kidnapped and kept children.

whatswrongwiththeworldddd · 29/11/2023 17:18

The IDF imprisoned without charge, kept and tortured children.

treeees · 29/11/2023 17:19

@Iwantcakeeveryday I don't think it's ok that they took children or anyone, and obviously what you describe is horrific. I'm just speculating why on the whole they were not allowed to speak up as a group. Not every hostage's experience is going to be the same. Different stories coming out - such as the woman at the beginning who wished her captors well etc. So I think it's a mixed bag in terms of how they were looked after (please note, even if they were well looked after this does not mitigate that they were taken in the first place). Maybe read through the prior comments, as that will give you some context for our discussion. Please note I do not condone Hamas, or the taking of hostages.

@whatswrongwiththeworldddd exactly. IDF imprison so many innocent children, torture and imprison them without charge, and without legal counsel. They keep children in solitary confinement.

Neither what Hamas do or IDF is ok. Nobody is excusing it.

why does that make it okay to minimise what Hamas have done to Israeli children though, which is what I was responding to.

treeees · 29/11/2023 17:24

We are not "minimising" Hamas, simply postulating on why the captors stories are not being allowed to be released.

Massive difference.

I think you are when you say this: they were treated ok

They were not treated ok. Israel don;t need to create a false narrative of Hamas, because what they've done and continue to do to the hostages is horrific as it is.

Some of them. A 12 year old being left alone and then forced to watch the massacre is not being treated 'reasonably'.

treeees · 29/11/2023 17:29

@Iwantcakeeveryday our posts just crossed. I admit my wording was poor.

And no, no hostage being taken is ok.

Well I have read those too. Women have said they ate ok, less so towards the end when conditions changed, but they weren't beaten once there. I don't think they're being stopped from telling their stories if they wish to. Some will be too traumatised from the mental impact to speak of course. They weeren't all held together by the same people so it makes sense treatment would be different.

treeees · 29/11/2023 17:36

@Iwantcakeeveryday I think we agree then for the most part. I apologise if my post was badly worded though. And yes it's tragic all round for all hostages but also a joy that some have been released.

I just pray that the remaining Israeli hostages, and the innocent Palestinian hostages and detainees held in Israeli jails are also released.

I read that the hostages are not allowed to speak about their experience "until they've received training". Not sure if that's true or not and can't recall where I read it. Yechoved (sp) spoke about her experience very briefly and then we never heard another word, her daughter said she was being silenced.

Don't know about letter, but one thing really struck me was how well the hostages looked, even the dog. A far cry from the daily torture and rape that they'd be facing, according to some posters.

Tbf those concerns came from how Hamas dealt with the people that they didn't take hostage. They tortured, raped and murdered them. I think it's therefore a valid concern that they would not treat the ones who they had taken any better.

There are still lots of hostages that we don't know the condition of who haven't been released. We know some have been found dead. We know that they have handed the baby hostage to a different terrorist group rather than releasing him. And some of the stories coming out from the ones who have been released are not of the 'treated like queens' variety.

Sadly there are Hamas terrorists amongst the Israeli prisoner releases, as well as likely some innocent detainees. Their release makes it unsafe for everyone. I wish that all the children on both sides were never taken, but that they are all released now.

treeees · 29/11/2023 18:11

@Iwantcakeeveryday I was expressing that I wanted "innocent Palestinian hostages" to be released, not Hamas prisoners, as per the indicative wording of my post.

Sadly there are too many innocent Palestinians held in jail without charge, including many children and women. Innocent prisoners are treated horrifically, and tortured.

More than two-thirds of the Palestinians proposed for release by Israel under the truce have not been convicted of any crimes. Most were arrested as children.

I've tried to find the original video of this but with no luck. But it's an interesting video about the experiences of former IDF soldiers.

This is the gentleman from the video I said i saw the other day. Where he was saying good by to his little granddaughter kissing her eyes and looking at her for the last time. The poor man lost most of his family. Videos showing him playing with his granddaughter before she was killed. I know its not really to do with th thread. But felt she deserved to be thought about.
