Documenting Israeli army racism and torture

this thread is to document the racist, criminal and dehumanizing behaviour by the most “moral army in the world” both during its most recent bombardment of Gaza and across decades of military occupation in the West Bank.

to start, here is a video of Israeli soldiers chanting they will turn Gazans into Kebabs.

I find much of the narrative anti-semetic. Use of 'Israel vs Hamas' is problematic. Obviously Palestinian women and young children and many others are likely to be innocent victims in this, but Hamas is the ruling party in Gaza with considerable support despite the lack of elections. Equally I am sure that many Israeli citizens do not support the extreme actions of the Israeli government and the IDF. The narrative should therefore be Likud/IDF vs Hamas/IJ or Israel vs Gaza/Palestine to be entirely neutral. Anyone who uses unbalanced terms is being anti-semetic in my view.

@treeees @Fairtobefairohhhhhc What utter rubbish. Israel is one of the most culturally rich countries I've ever been to. What ignorance and baseless hate! Seriously!?
Both of you should go take a weeks holiday in Israel. Visit Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, perhaps also visit the Kibbutzim down south. It'll be very educational for you on many levels.

13 year old held in solitary confinement leading to psychosis and schizophrenia
JERUSALEM, November 24, 2022 (WAFA) – The European Union called today on the Israeli occupation authorities to immediately end the solitary confinement of Palestinian prisoner Ahmad Manasra, and to allow him access to badly needed psychological counselling and support.“Today, the EU and some Member States attended Ahmad Manasra’s hearing. The Court extended his one year-long solitary confinement for another 4 months. The UN stipulates solitary confinement beyond 15 days constitutes torture,” the EU office in Palestine said in a tweet. The EU added, “Appeal to Israeli authorities to end his solitary confinement immediately & ensure he receives the necessary psychological counselling & support. Given serious internaitonal concerns about fair trial standards & due process in this case, we call on Israeli authorities to urgently release him”.Manasra was arrested by the Israeli occupation forces in 2015 when he was only 13 years after shooting him and his cousin Hassan, who was killed instantly.Ahmad Manasra’s mental health has worsened during his incarceration. In October 2021 an independent Israeli clinical psychologist working with Physicians for Human Rights – Israel (PHRI) diagnosed him with severe psychiatric conditions, and stated these had developed since his incarceration.Ahmad Manasra’s parents said in February 2022 that their son had been diagnosed with schizophrenia, and that he is suffering from psychotic delusions, and is severely depressed with suicidal thoughts.

Young children are likely to be innocent victims? I think you mean young children are always innocent victims. It would appear you hold beliefs that Palestinian children are born terrorists?

untitledmum · 21/11/2023 09:46

@feralunderclass Let me help clarify some things here. I was in Jerusalem in 2019 when there was a stabbing attack on the bus that I was on. I saw it. A 15 year old boy from the West Bank fatally stabbed a young lady on the bus and injured her child. He was 15 and I hope he is currently behind bars in the Israeli prison. And his mental health has suffered so be it. Context is everything.

treeees · 21/11/2023 09:49

@feralunderclass I absolutely agree he should not be on the streets. But solitary confinement for a 13 year old? for many years? So bad he develops MH conditions? Not ok.

treeees · 21/11/2023 09:50

@feralunderclasshttps://www.amnesty.org/en/latest/news/2022/06/israel-opt-palestinian-prisoner-arrested-as-a-child-ahmad-manasra-still-in-prison-despite-worsening-mental-health/

Amnesty international are campaigning on his behalf. As the leading human rights organisation in the world I trust their judgement on this.

Ahmad Manasra is one of countless Palestinians, whose rights as a child, have been swept up in Israel’s deeply flawed justice system, and he must be released.

And this is just the tip of a very tragic iceberg. Israel detains approx 700 children per year and their parents often don't know their whereabouts for months. The youngest child arrested was a five year old boy, removed from his family by the IDF. Can anyone imagine this is a civil state? The Palestinian hostages need to be released. 10 days in solitary confinement and the brain starts to deteriorate. A child in solitary confinement for years is unthinkable.

treeees · 21/11/2023 09:53

A five year old boy, taken for "crimes" by the IDF, away from his family. I shudder to think. No humanity.

Sorry you got through that. But that one child has done that doesn’t mean that all the kids that are in prison atm have done anything similar. Also many have not had the right of a lawyer or anything

Right well let's take a look at some specific dishes that Israel claim as their own.

  1. Hummus - originate from the Middle East
  2. Shakshuka - Tunisia
  3. Falafel - brought into Israel by Syrian and Egyptian Jews.

Of course anyone who commits a crime should be behind bars. Young people in the UK do this too, do we start branding them all as terrorists?
The parallel legal system for Palestinians means that Palestinian children are convicted for 'crimes' they didn't even commit, and there is approx at 98% prosecution rate. Juxtapose this with Israeli settlers - only 3% of their crimes even go before a court, and the conviction rate is even less. They (adults, not even children) literally get away with murder and laugh and gloat about it.

Here is a documentary if you are interested in the grossly unfair treatment of Palestinian children, where the legal system is designed to make the criminals.

That's so sad. Imprisoned for throwing stones. I can't imagine how this mother must have been feeling.

SENSITIVE/GRAPHIC CONTENT

This breaks my heart to see. As a mum, I can't help but think what if it were my own kids suffering like this. It's never ok to kill civilians. Never. Whatever your reasons are , it's never ok to kill innocent people especially babies and children.

Particularly coming out with this nonsense during Mizrahi Heritage Month! Tragic, really. How embarrassing.

stormy4319trevor · 21/11/2023 11:11

@untitledmum In the UK we have human rights which provide a certain amount of rights to prisoners and minors in custody. Many other countries do the same. It is a benchmark of democracies that they follow the law, even when dealing with individuals who don't. Otherwise there is no difference between upholders of the law and breakers of the law. It's all essential to a robust justice system, democracy and the law.

Here’s why Palestinians object to the term ‘Israeli food’: It erases us from history

Interesting Palestinian take which addresses some of the counter claims on this thread, from a Palestinian perspective.

whatswrongwiththeworldddd · 21/11/2023 11:16

Seems the Israelis like to claim everything that belongs to others as their own 🙄
