https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2023/11/12/hamas-planning-terror-gaza-israel/

This is a very interesting and detailed article about the 7 October attacks. It confirms that the high Gazan casualty rate from the IDF response was baked in and part of the overall plan.

It mentions as fact about the atrocity against the pregnant woman, which I know has been repeatedly dismissed here and elsewhere, as well as including eyewitness reports of rapes and sexual assaults.

It's paywalled but entering an email address will give access to the article.

Hopefully everyone can stop having arguments about the details of the atrocities now.

Thanks for posting that. It was good to read a seemingly factual account of October 7th. I can't see any 'holes' in it, can you?

“Hamas knew Israel would strike back hard. That was the point,” Katz said. “To Hamas, Palestinian suffering is a critical component in bringing about the instability and global outrage it seeks to exploit.”

I think Israel have been played by Hamas, hard. Striking back hard against civilians has played right into Hamas hands. Each side positioning itself as both victims and aggressors is so odd for people to grapple with. Absolutely horrible to think about what those people waking up on that morning were about to face.

There has been a further press conference now held in Israel with images and eyewitness statements detailing the sexual violence:
