Illegal settlements

I just watched a piece on itv and sky news how Palestinians are abandoning their houses in the west bank as they face severe intimidation by settlers and army forces

The reporter says the settlements are illegal they are universally accepted as illegal so my question is why is nobody doing anything ??
What is the purpose of international law and the UN ? Is it just Israel that gets away with is ?

I just don't see what the point of saying something is illegal but continuing to build more and more settlements for people from
US kicking Palestinians out of their homes ? Why are they getting away with this ?

I hope the world finally watches and sees what this is.

Utterly vile - and still ongoing! There seems to be a new village every hour or so [or that's what it feels like, I don't mean this literally!] In the Ramallah, Nablus and Hebron regions.

The village next to where my ex-PIL live is now coming under attack. We are, obviously, beyond worried about XH's family, especially his elderly parents but also his brothers and their kids!

Ex-PIL have evacuated to [nearest larger city] upon urging from XH and, literally, myself, too, calling them and pleading. They are staying at a cushy hotel paid by yours truly for a while.

BILs and families are still around - they dont want to leave, and neither do XH or I want them to. We're both "pro people we love" not "pro ethnic cleansing". Situation still sketchy. But none of them are as immobile as elderly ex-PIL, so they'll be in a much better position.

I'm hoping and praying for them all. Thank goodness your ex-PIL have got to safety.

I find this hard to watch!

It reminds me of how much my ex-FIL cried over his orange orchard when settlers took it over and prevented him from entering it. Being the presumably unassailable white blonde European that I am: I tried ... and I have been sporting a dashing scar from "where I was hit in the face by a stone thrown at me" ever since.

That was years ago now!

May my ex-FIL's lovely, juicy, sweet Oranges grow small and green and sour! The people who stole that orchard: they didn't plant that orchard, they didn't foster and prune and graft those trees from saplings to fruit bearing. That lovely man did, and it broke his heart to lose them!

May the thieves find their ill-gained fruit small, green, and bitter! And may their produce find a BDS sticker slapped on it wherever they try to sell it abroad!

That video of the elderly man is heartbreaking, at his stage of life he should be able to relax and enjoy what time he has left not face this kind of harassment and terror. These people are nothing more than state sponsored yobs running rampant through an area like animals. Any other democratic state they would be rounded up and dealt with, not supported. Very reminiscent of the blind eye (and state support) for the actions of the KKK in the deep south back in the 20s

I see on social media that people are saying the translation is incorrect and he is announcing funding for Israeli areas near Gaza.

I don't speak the language so I don't have a clue either way but I suspect it's a mistranslation.

sounded like he said otef aza which is the gaza envelope, to rebuild the area damaged on oct 7 and damaged by military vehicles (not in gaza)
