Since October 7, over 7,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israel's bombardment on the besieged Gaza Strip. Here are some of their names and faces. The people, human beings, behind the numbers.

Oh my God... Murderous scum!

Scum is much too good a word for them.

Every single death is on Hamas.
I would love to know what the MN experts would have had Israel do instead?

And that’s it? That’s the disrespectful nonsense you choose to spout? Not a word of condolences to the victims? Big off with your hatred and your Islamophobia. We see you.

She was shot in the leg outside her church and either bleed to death or got run-over by a tank. I'm not sure which happened first.

I'm so sorry Elham Farah.

@BorgQueen stop it. Palestinians have been systematically dehumanized by the global media for decades. They are people, each one as real as you are, with hopes and dreams and families and internal lives and talents and failings and fears. BEFORE October, 2023 saw the most numbers of Palestinians murdered by Israeli soldiers since records began. According to whom you ask? THE UN. THE FUCKING UN, NOT THE DAILY MAIL. People are finally starting to see what has been happening.

RogersOrganismicProcess · 18/11/2023 06:58

What is happening to the Palestinian people is as heartbreaking and horrific as any other atrocity, that has occurred throughout history. I cannot understand why this is being allowed to take place.

Families are watching multiple loved ones die painful and senseless deaths. I have buried one child, one. The pain her losing her very nearly broke me, I have never been the same person since, despite having a safe home, food, water, warmth, the rest of my family, peace… I cannot even imagine what it is like for them.

No one is saying that October the 7th was right. My heart goes out to those poor families and the fear they must have felt. Those two horrors can exist simultaneously. However if a crime is committed, a civilised society goes after the criminals. It doesn’t kill everyone in its tracks until it finds them!

I do not believe that the IDF didn’t have the intelligence and skill to go after the perpetrators and spare lives.

Where is the outcry, the homes being offered by kindly hosts? Why do the victims of one war matter more than those of another? Look at those faces in the pictures. People just like you and me with hopes and dreams. Children like ours, so loved and treasured, innocent and scared. Where is the outcry!

iloveeverykindofcat · 18/11/2023 07:15

@RogersOrganismicProcess I mean, its complicated, and I've rewritten this paragraph several times because I'm not a historian and I don't want to say anything I don't understand. But a lot of it comes down to America's strategic alliance with Israel (including of course the arms trade). However, things are starting to change. US foreign policy in the ME is increasingly unpopular domestically, following the failed interventions in Afghanistan and Iraq. Israel's relationship with Russia was getting stronger, making them less reliant on American support, though this has deteroriated since the invasion of Ukraine. Palestinian people have basically been "collateral damage" of global politics on a massive scale. My family is Iraqi, so its something I've been aware of since I was young, but until very recently most people seemed to have little or no awareness of what has actually been happening to them.

I am so sorry for your loss Flowers
What you say is 100% true and I agree completely. I do not understand anyone who condones the genocide.

From Palestine in the UK (Facebook): The Israeli army killed a Palestinian medical doctor for refusing to abandon his patients

Dr Mahmoud Abunejeila, 38 years old, was killed with other two medical colleagues while at the hospital in northern Gaza saving lives. He was working for and with Doctors Without Borders (MSF). They refused to leave their patients behind.

He said right before his killing: “We as doctors will not abandon our patients, and we still have hope that the world will not abandon us, not for our sake as medical staff, but for the sake of the patients. Don't let us down.”

Dr Mahmoud leaves a wife and three beautiful children.

Sadly there are so many whose names or faces we will not know as whole communities have been wiped out so nobody there to identify them or cannot due to the state of the bodies and are having to be buried in mass graves with no family present for their funerals, not to mention those still lying under the rubble 😢

We remember the Palestinian doctor Hammam Alloh, who was killed this month when an Israeli artillery shell struck his wife's home, killing him, his father, brother-in-law and father-in-law. Dr. Alloh had refused to heed Israeli directives to evacuate in order to continue providing care to his patients. He was 36 years old.

Democracy Now! spoke to Dr. Alloh in October about conditions at the hospital during Israel's latest war on Gaza. He spoke about his decision to continue working and called on people in the United States and the rest of the world to take action against Israel's indiscriminate assault. Watch here:
