Why does the U.S fund Israel? They give billions every year....

Because their government spends every penny available on annihilation of another country. Israel employs Gazan's where their own government don't unless you are the 'right' person. I just think we are looking at the wrong people to blame.
Our expectations of Israel are so high and Hamas so low? Why is that?

I'm sorry but that really sounds like brainwashing to me, they had their land forcibly removed.

@etmoietmoietmoi can you please explain why you put that emoji next to the list of Anti Zionists that I posted....surely the best way to have a discussion is for people to explain their point of view and for all of us to be respectful....Im certainly willing to listen but I cant decipher emojis...hopefully you or @BlurredEdges can explain.

@piddocktrumperiness thank you for your post. Ive read some of Gabor Mate's and his podcasts have been enlightening.

AppleCottageCores · 27/10/2023 19:26

@Stomacharmeleon our expectations of Israel are higher? Ofcourse they are! Hamas is a terrorist organisation and Israel is a government! Are you seriously saying we shouldnt have higher expectations from Israel?! You cant really reason with terrorists.

@Foodorder why am I the one brainwashed? Also Israel predates Palestine by more than a millennium. Then the Jews were displaced and it because Palestine and predominately Arab.
How far do you want to go back?
The issue is really of Israel lay down arms and agree to peace will Hamas and the Palestinians because history has shown us it's unlikely to be the case.
Which leaves us where?

Stomacharmeleon · 27/10/2023 20:14

@AppleCottageCores they govern Palestine and they want what exactly? To rid the area from the Mediterranean Sea to the Jordan of Jews. Which leave Israel where? If they lay down arms will they get the hostages back or peace in that area?

Then what? A ceasefire both sides? It won't stop until Hamas go.

If we're going back a millennium, most Brits shouldn't be here and America would have an entirely different population.

Stomacharmeleon · 27/10/2023 21:08

@Foodorder so when does it suit you to go back? If you look at when most countries in that area were formed .... Qatar? Bahrain? Saudi? It's in keeping with what was going on in the area.

Emirates for example a young country but whose history can be traced back thousands of years. See where I am going with this?

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 27/10/2023 21:12

The thing to remember is that lots of Tory MPs, lots of Labour MPs also want to see a ceasefire on humanitarian grounds.

Living memory? Real life people, still alive now had their homes removed and have been forced to live in an area that's too small with insufficent resources. It can't be a surprise that they're quite cross.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 28/10/2023 07:13

Thousands of Jews are protesting at New York City's Grand Central Station demanding a ceasefire in Gaza. Well done them.

Well done. Israel lost its way some years ago and has been overtaken by some very unpleasant people. Maybe, with the help of influences like the above, it can find its way again.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 28/10/2023 09:45

Yep.

piddocktrumperiness · 28/10/2023 09:54

"All are equal. But some are more equal than others"- paraphrased that from Animal farm, but my goodness does it speak loudly and clearly for what is going on

piddocktrumperiness · 28/10/2023 09:56

Edited

Stomacharmeleon · 28/10/2023 17:59

@Foodorder the countries I stated where in living memory.

Also there are over 147,000 holocaust survivors in Israel. I imagine the reasons why they are there make them 'quite cross'.

Palestinians had nothing to do with the Holocaust and this is the issue. Israel thinks all its actions can be justified by what happened in Europe.

You asked for living memory....or are you being picky about whose living Memories?
Goes back to history again....@Foodorder
