When do I come off the pill?

Me and DP are getting married in 10 months time and would like to TTC as soon as we are married.

My question is, when should I stop taking the pill? I know it can take a while for things to get back to normal.

Is there anything else I need to think about?

DS was a little suprise so I've no experience in planning these things.

You can get pregnant as soon as you come off the pill so if you don't want to get pregnant until you are married I would maybe finish taking them just before or just after the wedding, whatever you prefer.

It varies from woman to woman.... some people come off the pill and their systems get going straight away - others take 2 or three months. I would have thought that 2 months before the wedding was sensible...

The other factor is you don't know when you're going to have a period - and I never liked the idea of having my period actaully on my wedding day... So maybe do what pinkmagic suggested

Definitely take pinkmagic's advice. My period finished the day before our wedding, so didn't take the pill anymore. That was mid-April. Started actively trying mid-May, I was PG by end of June.

I'd been on the pill for 18 years and was 34 years old - so miracles do happen!

I stopped taking the pill 6 months before TTC and it took a while for my periods to settle down (4 cycles in 6 months - one of 54 days!). So it depends what it most important for you I guess if you are desperate to get pregnant straight away after the wedding maybe give your body a bit more time to readjust.

Well I'm not desperate but I don't want to wait to long either. My periods were very unpredictable before I was on the pill so I'm a bit worried about what will happen when I come off. I do not want to be on my period when I'm on my honeymoon either!

Thanks for the advice. I'm due a check up this winter so I'll ask the nurse then as well.
