Could I be pregnant?

Hi all... I'm not TTC but I think I might be pregnant, my period is 7 days late, but I did two pregnancy tests in the last 24 hours, both negative... But it is SO weird for my period to be late by even a day. I have been weirdly tired (although not today, but more the past week - went to bed at 7.30pm last night and had 11 hours sleep). I was also unable to think straight whilst trying to work this week, normally I'm fairly distractable but this week I got nothing done at all. No other pregnancy symptoms though - just brain dead and dead tired, both of which could just be me having a brain dead/tired moment.

Has anyone else had negative pregnancy test results but turned out to be pregnant? I'm just so confused as my previous pregnancy (my only pregnancy to date) showed up with a thick, enthusiastic line on the test when I was a day overdue. And i had LOADS of other pregnancy symptoms, like enhanced smell and finding foods i normally loved repellent.

i'm waffling. I just want to share my thoughts with someone, and would love to know if anyone has been in this limbo land before, and what you did about it?

I bought 2 more pregnancy tests today, but have not used them. Yet.

Eeeek. (I would love to have another baby by the way, it's not perfect timing, but I would be overjoyed!)

You could just have a virus that is making you feel off, though not in bed all out sick. Having said that though, I've read a few posts on here from others who didn't test positive until several weeks into their pregnancies.

Fingers crossed for you that it BFP rather than a BFV(irus)!

Hola Beachtent,

Just thought I'd say hi, cant offer any pearls of wisdom Im afraid, but hope you end up with the result you are after. I think I may also be pg, but am waiting till tomorrow or Fri morning to POAS. The waiting and not knowing is horrible, but as this is planned by me and not my dp I dont really have anyone to talk to about it... hence the mnetting, lol. When are you testing again?

x

I don't think I have a virus as i felt wonderful today and was bouncing around on a bouncy castle and running around... but no other symptoms. Will try another test tomorrow then perhaps just wait if it's negative again. Argh! I want to do one now but I know there's no point!

RESIST the urge, lol. I wanted to test after a few days of ovulating, this 2ww bollocks is doing my head in... I think it doesnt really help the fact that Im really wishing this month would be it and Ive finally tracked my cycle successfully. But we will see........

Good luck with your testing, fingers crossed and babydust to you

ShoeLaLa · 07/07/2010 22:21

Aha just reread your OP and saw you are already late, in which case test away, lol

Did another test this morning - BFN! What is going on?! I'm NEVER late! Never, i tell you. This is so weird. I hope there's not something else up with my reproductive system! That would be a disaster.

Well, it was BFN because i'm not pregnant! of course. AF arrived this afternoon. Phew. Waiting over. only four pregnancy tests wasted!

In better news, it made me review my monthly pattern and I discovered that I'm nowhere near as regular as i thought I was - cycles vary between 18 to 30 days. Yikes. Quite wild, really. So already been to the GP in super-efficient fashion and have a hormone level check arranged for next week to screen for PCOS, which I'm convinced I have anyway as I self-diagnosed myself with it about 4 years ago! But would rather know for sure in case we have probs conceiving next time round (plan to start in 2-3 months). fingers crossed it;s nothing like that, but we'll see. I have already had one baby so the odds indicate that if it is PCOS it's not too severe.

Thanks for your support!

Try charting, that will give you a better idea.

beachtent · 09/07/2010 08:01

Do you have any info about charting, or is it just a case of making a chart up yourself?

1 - Buy/borrow Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler.

2 - Buy digital thermom that temps to 2 decimal places (about £4-5 from amazon)

3- Sign up to Fertility Friend.com (free)

4 - Come and obssess with us on Charter's Anonymous on the Conception board; some of us have been charting longer than others, but we all happily share advice, ideas and news about our BFPs!

The only caveat I would put in is that you can't dip in and out of it, you need to be consistend in checking your fertility signs. For most of us that's fine and dandy, but some people are put off by it. I love it (or I did, am pg with DC4 now!) because it gives me so much info about my cycle it's unreal, and I feel really empowered about my own body. But a couple of my friends have had a look at TCOYF and said it really wasn't for them.

It involves monitoring your cervical fluid, temperature and other secondary signs. Soem people manually chart but I like fertility friend cos it did that hard stuff for me.

Good luck!

Wow, thanks for all that info! Amazing! Will come and join you on charter's Anonymous, for sure! I'm excited about all this!
