I know that the EWCM shows ovulation time but is this the only time of the month you can get pregnant? I understand sperm can survivea few days so you they could still be there at optimum time, but if you BD after ovulation is it impossible to get pregnant or just unlikely?

yep u can do the egg lives for 24 hours so it's v possible yes.

Try about 14 days before ur period, that's when you're more fertile.

you have to BD up to and on day of ovulation .. past ovulation no bananas... sperm can live up to 7 days in womb (but most normally 3 days quoted)

I thought you had to have 14 days between ovulation and 'possible' period to give the err blastocyte? time to implant?

you have to have a minimum of 10 days but that doesn't mean that every woman ovulates 14 days before start of period

the 14 days is a statistical average based on the average cycle of 28 days .. it is by no means definitive .. you can have longer cycles, later ovulation, shorter cycles etc

the only way to know when you ovulate is OPKs or charting

Anything from 10 days between OV and AF being due is considered okay for pg chances. OV varies from everyone though.

Best way to find out when you OV is to look for EWCM and to take your temps. EWCM tells you you are in your most fertile time. Rise in temp tells you you have OVd.

You need to BD for a few days before and up to OV, and to be sure for a day or two after too.

You also get ov cm after ov so best not to get it and think 'Oh i best bd now' Just do it as much as can or at least everyother day before and on day of ov.

If your temperatures and other signs show clearly that you have already ovulated, then you can be confident that you are no longer fertile. It is also not uncommon to confuse semen and eggwhite or watery cervical fluid. Some women also notice some fertile-looking cervical fluid just before menstruation.

However, if your chart does not show clearly that you have already ovulated (with a clear and sustained thermal shift) do not stop having intercourse. Keep on considering the possibility that you are still fertile as long as you see fertile cervical fluid to make sure you don't miss a chance to conceive.

jamiesam .. didn't mean to be brusque .. keep seeing that 14 day thing (and responding) and I've also heard it from a GP (who really should know better) and for an average number of people its a helpful guide but for most it can actually get in the way of conceiving / not conceiving

agree, I OV around day 9/10 (of 28 day cycle). The 14 day thing is certainly not right for everyone.

yes you can get pregnant after ovulation as the egg is still travelling down fallopian tubes
