Just to start us off.

May this be a happy and lucky thread for all of us.

Hi. Rowing, it is a short school holiday break that is coming to a close at the mo. We have a long Christmas break - 6 weeks (in our summer) then an easter break of two weeks, July break of two weeks and September break of 2 weeks.
Charlie won't go to pre-school for ages. For kids here, it isn't until the year they turn 4, but the cut-off is July 30.Because he was born Aug 23, he won't go until the following year, so he'll be almost 5. Which is fine by me.The more time we get at home together, the better. I plan to go back to work next July, but will probably only do a day a week teaching(but will keep up the tutoring).Hopefully I'll be pregnant by then, so I'll get another 3 years mat. leave.
Good luck with the transfer. My acupuncturist would say to visualise white light and love for you embryos. Can't hurt can it?
Hippy, do you have any plans re: work? Are you looking for something else? I totally understand what you mean about those chats at work. When I was ttc my DS there were women at my school getting pregnant every 5 minutes, and everyone saying,"Ooo, must be something in the water".It was hard watching their bellies grow while month after month the RTD would come. I guess 7 months isn't very long in the scheme of things, but I had waited three years for the reversal, so was pretty desperate by then.
Anyway, what I mean is, I feel for you...
I must go over to the Hut of Doom and see what the Doc said to Rainbow, I've been thinking about her.

oliviacrumble · 17/07/2010 08:26

Sorry, I hope no one minded me posting in this section?

Maybe I should have put it in the Pregnancy topic - it's just that I spent so many years trying to conceive, I wanted to share my story in case it gave a glimmer of hope to anyone here.

Didn't in any way mean to sound glib about it all, I've shed many tears along the road, and just somehow can't quite believe the miracle of maintaining a pregnancy only after I'd finally come to terms that it would never happen...

rowingboat · 17/07/2010 10:30

Hi all,
Just popping on, getting ready to travel - by looking at Mumsnet.
Had to say hi to Olivia, thank you for coming in here to give us a boost! Congratulations on your pregnancy! Hope it all proceeds in a boring, uneventful manner and you have a chance to relax.

randomimposter · 17/07/2010 10:33

rowing surely MN is prep for everything? It is for me, cleaning the kitchen, hanging out the washing, hoovering etc etc. All the VERY best for the trip, a big sunny squeeze from the coast.

olivia - a great story, no you didn't sound glib.

Must dash - DS parroting, "a poo, a poo" which is never great news....

gumblossom · 17/07/2010 12:06

olivia, I didn't see your post before I posted earlier. Thankyou so much for your story. It gives me a lot of hope. I'd like to hear how things go for you.

Good Luck Rowing, for your trip. I hope we'll be posting our bfp's together in a couple of weeks.

hippychick66 · 17/07/2010 18:51

hooray for olivia. You have certainly cheered up this old Hippy

I was feeling very down today - thinking about the fact that I'm 44 next month and wondering what the feck I was doing trying to get preg at my age!! It's fab to read that you are having an on-going pregnancy at 44. Yes, I understand that you don't want to do cartwheels just yet cos you still have tests to get through etc. But the fact is you are 13 weeks - so past the real danger danger zone.

I am so glad you took the time to tell us your tale (you certainly didn't sound glib - and I think this is an ideal place to post it).

Keep us up-to-date please and many congrats. I am but very happy for you too - you've been through a heck of a lot so far. All the best my love.

hippychick66 · 17/07/2010 18:52

I wonder how diege is getting on with her other MN friends - I KNOW she likes me more than them!!!!

oliviacrumble · 17/07/2010 19:49

Thank-you all very much for your lovely kind words.

I will update when I am 'further out of the woods', iykwim.

In the meantime, the very, very best of luck to you all, with all your endeavours.

May there be many BFPs and sticky beans!

hippychick66 · 17/07/2010 19:55

rainbow I've been thinking alot about your situation and it has made me wonder . Can i have your permission to post about what your doctor said the other day?

It's got me thinking that maybe the reason miscarriage is more common after 40 is not necessarily cos we have dodgy old eggs, but more cos our bodies allow the embryos to implant that we would have rejected when we were younger. I guess at the end of the day it has the same outcome - more MC's for the poor old birds. But it is interesting.

Sorry to take your private visit and post about it - hope you are ok with it??

Italiangreyhound · 17/07/2010 23:13

Hi all I am lurking but not posting much. Just when I think I have made my decision, something comes and rocks the boat. It is all a bit too much to report back as it is boring with a capital 'brah'!

AlbaDeTamble thanks, I too hope that miracle baby is round the corner and I am keeping on with the Agnus Castus now I know I need to dilute it with more than a thimble full of water!

Rowing the doc is nice, and quite new to the surgery so does not know my long fertility history and I think her miracle baby comment needs to be taken with a big pinch of menopur! (Little joke for the assisted conception bunch!). I am thinking of you and wishing you well. I am replying to your email NOW.

Hi Spotty and welcome. So sorry about your MC and thinking of you.

Holeymoley all the best , it does sound as if we are similar, although your boys have each other and that must be a real encouragement.

My daughter is so fab, she was so good today, her grandma has had a hip op so we said not to touch grandma and said it so many times that when they met she stayed well away as if granny might shatter if she got too close! Very well behaved until tonight when she was pretty hyper!

Rowing thinking of you and wishing you well, get those skimpy clothes on, stay off that red clover (sounds like a salad lead) and let us know some good news soon!

Hippy I am not sure but I would be surprised if you could work out which will be the good and which will be the bad eggs, but if you work it out, let us know! Thinking of you.

oliviacrumble Hi and welcome, I have been trying to do the old accept it is not going to happen and it will trick for ages, not sure how I do it! You are not glib, we are delighted for you. We all know it is quite a random thing, some seem to work out some not. I think the fact we are all posting here means we have all had varying degrees of 'luck' so any one with a positive story is very welcome, as is anyone with any other kind of story. And by the way, love the name, my DH and DD are huge crumble fans, I am just huge!

doubleshotlatte, Lia, Pollyanna, Lunatic, Rainbow, Gum, Jolly, Diege and all, blessing and smiles

liahgen66 · 18/07/2010 11:02

hi everyone,

Welcome olivia Well we've just been to car boot and stocked up on paint by numbers, ( i had somuch fun with those when I was a kid, my 5yr dd loves them) and puzzles as 3 yr dd is whizzing through them at a rate of knots.

so I got a lovely little message from a little gidital machine yesterday that said " PREGNANT 1-2 weeks." Woohoo

Am absolutely shitting myself and felt a bit wobbly yesterday, was sure my aches and pains were the beginning of the end. I just wanna go to sleep for the next 6 wks.

seing doc Monday cos he said they'll give me progesterone but tbh, Will it make any difference? I dunno. God this is sooooo scary, told dh I was worried and he just says, no point worrying, errm, you don't say. Doesn't stop you doing it though does it. ?

Please please please let this one stick

hippychick66 · 18/07/2010 17:37

liaghen Many many congrats. From what I can gather - with us old birds, most of the time when we MC it's because of a chromosone problem and this is determined at the point of conception. So probably progesterone will not do much, except maybe delay an MC if there was gonna be one. But if it makes you feel more in control or that you've done all you can - then it might be worth it.

I think the best way to approach it (and the way i choose to these days) is to try to be as positive as possible that you've got yourself a good embryo whilst guarding your heart as much as possible. (Not planning too far ahead) Take it a week at a time or if that's too hard then a day at a time.

Try to focus on alba (sorry to use you as some kind of guru or god alba ) or ILGH or TFLS they are all in their 40's and despite previous MC's they have managed to get on well in their current pregnancy and the goal is in sight for them.

I really hope all goes well for you. I hope I don't sound bossy lia, it's just that I've given a lot of thought to how I intend to handle things if/when i get another BFP.

For now - YOU'RE PREGGERS ENJOY!

I will do my very best to ctch up so we can once again be preggers together. xx

liahgen66 · 18/07/2010 17:48

yes please do hippy would love to be able to be bump buddies.

I will take your advice, thank you still at the finding it hard to believe stage.

hippychick66 · 18/07/2010 18:04

lia It just goes to show what a bit of shagging can get you!!!

jolly & doubleshot how are you getting on????

Frosticle · 18/07/2010 22:37

Diege · 18/07/2010 22:53

Just popping in after getting back from my trip in London to see my other thread buddies , but wanted to say many congrats to Lia, that's brilliant news , and to reassure my 'other woman' Hippy that she will always be no.1 .
I will have a proper read through tomorrow! Big hello to everyone - I did actually mention you all (in a collective sense) to the 'other' thread today, and felt oddly guilty
Oh and have started the old angus thingymejig in a vain attempt to lengthen my lp - any success stories,or yet another waste of money?

Italiangreyhound · 18/07/2010 23:29

liahgen66 a million congratulations.

gumblossom · 19/07/2010 00:43

Congrats Liahgen! What wonderful news.
I'd like to be a belly buddy too if that's alright.I'll be testing at the end of July if RTD stays away...

randomimposter · 19/07/2010 10:17

Hi all
Big hurrah to lia - so pleased for you. May all be dull and boring for the next 8 months.

pollyanna think I forgot to reply to your q on here - funnily enough have wondered the same thing about whether I've seen you after reading your other thread on your difficult day in P Park a while back. I live off Dyke Road, sort of equidistant between PPark and HovePark, and closest to DykeRd Park. But am close to exchanging contracts on selling my house, and then need to rent for 6 months, so lord knows where that'll be!!

hippy my lovely - thanks for your thoughts. Am ok, 8 weeks today, MW appt on Weds. Waver between thinking a scan would be good, and then that last 2 pgs a scan at 8 weeks would have shown a HB, as they failed at 12 weeks and 9 weeks respectively..... SO, jury's out really. Feeling increasingly sick, bloaty by the evening, and lacking in energy. So all good signs but no guarantee of course!

Was very interested in Rainbow's posts; I have got pg first month 3 out of 4 pgs; one being DS, one current pg. Who knows what it all means !

Hi to all - got to call estate agent for irritating chat about buyers' new demands . x

BeattieBow · 19/07/2010 10:45

hi all, am a name changer

previously p0lly-anna, but I know my mum stalks me on here so am trying to be more anonymous. (she'll still find me if she looks on this thread I realise, but trying my best). And C and A too - please leave me alone!!!

That over, Congratulations LIah! Very pleased for you.

I don't have much hope this month, as although I did (according to ff) ovulate, dh woould have to have super sperm, and I would have to have a very hospitable vagina to enable any kind of fertilisation to take place! I have more accepted that I won't be pg on my due date now, and am ok about it. I have nearly completed the couch to 5k programme and am feeling quite fit. See am living up to my old name.!
Good luck to rowing hope it all goes well for you

jollster my nearest park is st ann's well - good place to live. I probably have been in the same place as y ou at some stage. I'm the harrassed screeching one!

diege I was going to start on agnus Castus, and then read the advice on here. I think you're not meant to if your cycle is regular as it can actually stop ovulation iirc. I took epo, folic acid and a strong vitB this month, and I didn't ovulate until cd20 (although that was after a pregnancy last month), so not sure what the answer is really!

gum good luck - are you late yet?

doubleshotlatte · 19/07/2010 11:47

Congratulations Liahgen and oliviacrumble. Let's hope for more BFPs and sticky pregnancies all round!

to Hippy and Italian

Can't believe I'm only in my 6th wk yet, trying not to obsess about last year's MC is so hard, which just makes the mood swings worse... ...sore boobs, aches and twinges all over the tummy and back... I thought things were supposed to get easier 2nd time round ?

Incidentally, it turned out my Mom (who's a literature scholar) knew more about Absinthe and its effects than my GP so at least she was able to reassure me that a few sips of very diluted absinthe does no harm. phew!

If only our GP practice would agree to an early scan for me, so that I could know all is well. No, they would only do so if there is bleeding or pain. I would pretend I had these, but am so lousy at acting, it'd never work

How do you girls get such early scans?

rowingboat · 19/07/2010 19:12

Hi all,
well I'm here! In a strange hotel room, feeling homesick. Every time I see someone hugging their child I feel like crying.
The transfer is tomorrow morning then epic double flight home, should arrive just before midnight. Then bed.

Lia I'm so chuffed for you. See those tests are a pile of bunkum, I know so many women who are pg after having the low amh result or the high FSH result it is daft.
Now I reckon you should more or less forget about it, apart from not going on pub crawls, and get on with things, otherwise you will be a basket case. It will probably be fine, and if not, being worried isn't going to make any difference you may as well be happy whilst waiting.
[she says echoing Lia's hubby, sagely )

Can't stay on for long, I have only paid for 30 mins, but waves to everyone. [waving arm]
Ewww at disembodied waving arm.
[Waving Rowinboat]

Italiangreyhound · 20/07/2010 01:44

Rowing how are you? I am thinking of you. I just wish you all the best. Arrow prayers and a big hug.

Alba, Jolly, Gum, Hippy, Diege, doubleshotlatte, Liahgen, oliviacrumble and BeattieBow and all*, hi and hope all is well. Sorry if I have missed anyone out!

OK, a challenge, what can you say or show me (websites) to get me losing weight! Anyone I've managed in three days to lose my new calories counter pocket-sized book and I am not getting anywhere at the moment! Finding watching Big meets Bigger is really helpful!

Had a wonderful friend over for a drink and she was so supportive and great. I am thinking of writing it all down, how I feel, what I want. I think that maybe DH and I need to go on a date night to be able to talk about it all!

Waves and blessings to all.

gumblossom · 20/07/2010 08:50

Italian, if you come up with a sure fire way to lose weight, let me know.I've struggled for years. Even when I was a gym bunny, working my butt off, I still didn't get skinny.I guess I'm just not meant to be.I'd settle for a healthy BMI.

My sister often loses weight on a high protein diet, but she always puts it back on when she eats normally. My sister in law has lost a tonne of weight, but she went under the knife and had a stomach band put in. My other SIL had success on Jenny Craig, but couldn't stay with it due to the expense and put back on 8 of the 10 kilos she lost.

I once kept an online diet journal which tallied up all the calories for me etc.It was really good, but very time-consuming so I stopped doing it. Now I am trying to eat a lot more vegetables. Each week I decide on a vegetable I'd like to try a new recipe with and go with that. This week is Spinach, so we'll be eating a lot of it.It's partly to try and make my body baby ready too.

Let me know if you come up with some good ideas.

Rowing, great to hear from you.Wishing you all the best.I'll be thinking whitelight and love for your embie.

Beattie, are you an Aussie? I remember that book (Playing Beattie Bow) from my childhood, and I'm sure it was an Australian story. Just wanted to let you know I won't be testing til next Thursday, but I am very happy to have had a lovely high temp this morning. I just want it to stay high beyond 12 DPO, then a lovely BFP would be welcomed with open arms!

How are the Preggy oldies feeling? I hope all is well.

Hippy, what's going on in your neck of the woods?

Do you ladies dye your hair? I'm not sure whether I should keep doing it.I hate looking old with the greys showing, but I don't like the idea of chemicals(esp. if I'm pregnant).Opinions?
