How long did it take you to get pregnant?

DH and I have been trying for our second (our first DC just "happened") but it's been a few months and no success. So I was curious as to other experiences so I don't start feeling like there's something wrong. Thanks.

Hi,

DS took 5 months to conceive and we've just started TTC for DC2 so in same boat! Only been a month though so not worried.

The majority of people do not conceive within a year so there's unlikely to be something 'wrong'. Try not to worry and hopefully it will happen quickly.

Took about 3 months to conceive DD, TTC DC2 for a year with no luck so far.

4.5 months to conceive first, a fortnight for second. It's different for everyone. One friend took a year to conceive 1st, another acquaintance took a decade for first and then less than a year for second. Try not to worry too much.

took 2 months (i.e got pregnant 2nd month of trying) with DS, just starting to ttc number 2 this month.

18mths dd1.
2yrs 6mths ttc with dd2 (inc m/c) and just once for ds.

4 years DS1 after 6 rounds fert treatment
1 week DS 2 after b-feeding. Bonkers.
TBH- It shouldn't even cross your mind to worry if it's only been a couple of months and you've conecived sucessfully before.

87% conceive within a year. 6 months is the median I believe.

Took one try!

I'd come off the pill and then been told that because of a medical condition I might struggle to conceive. So instead of waiting the 6 months we'd planned, we decided to abandon all contraception straight away. Weren't really trying trying so there was only the one occasion before I got pregnant!

DD - first shot
TTC2 now and we're two months in and nothing. It's hard not to get a bit stressy when the first was so easy but it is small beans in the great scheme of things.

Took us 4 weeks (just happened) DP got told he couldnt have kids, how wrong was that doctor!? Now TTC again only been a few weeks though.

Hi soph87, it's soo hard, but try not to worry about it. It took us 8 months, but on ly 5 weeks preg. now, so really not counting any chickens yet!

No time at all with DS (literally the first time after coming off the pill - didn't even think it was my fertile time of the month).

We're now starting month 7 of TTC DC2 and no luck yet

think we benefitted from the 'fertility spike' coming off the pill because it was immediate with DS. Just started trying for DC2 this month, but aware it could take much longer, especially as I've only had 3 AF's this year so far

You're going to hate me, ds took one go, and we weren't even trying! Now dh is convinced we're super fertile and next dc will happen stupidly fast too. We'll be TTC in a week and I'm convinced DC2 will take ages to happen just to annpying me now that I'm purposely trying!

With ds1 I fell pregnant on the second month of trying. With ds2 it took 14 cycles.

Bicnod I'm just the same as you - happened first month with DS (honeymoon baby!) and now just starting cycle 7 of TTC number 2.

It's so hard not to imagine that there's allsorts wrong but I'm reasured by the statistics and was quite to learn that a fertile couple who have sex at the right time only have a 20% chance of getting pregnant. Why did we all spend our youth convinced we would get pregnant if we so much as sat on a bloke's knee??!

about 5 minutes with DS.

Tried for few months for this one, then got all hardcore and looked at icky diagrams of egg white mucus and then it took 2 cycles of regimented timing.

I know that I am lucky though.

I fell pregnant really easily literally only needed one attempt each time

After being told i would have major problems conceiving as i have PCOS

So i think its best to wait and see and no longer take any notice of any predictions, it really is a medical thing they cant explain yet
