Sperm tests - someone help please

Firstly I am lucky enough to have a DS with my DH.

My husbands first sperm tests have come back and here they are:

8% normal forms
27% rapid motility
32% slow
22% non-progressive
19% immobile

Doesn't sound too great to me. DS was conceived 6 weeks after we got married. We have been trying for a year for number 2!

Help.

Those are normal semen analysis results. In fact they are actually quite good!

hellymelly · 18/06/2010 21:03

although they add up to more than a 100%....Does your DH have 108% sperm!?

AttilaTheMeerkat · 18/06/2010 21:13

One semen analysis is not fully indicative of there being male factor problems. Such tests should always be repeated.

Agree one teSt not conclusive.Dh had two tests with different but allegedly low results (we also trying for no 2) - told couldn't tell us why as no obvious changes but count was low.
So we gave it a rest thinking no 2 may not happen... Am now 8 weeks pregnant.

He had the second test this week.

My dh had 5% of the keen ones, with a total of 205 million. So lower percentage than yours, the consultant didn't think there was any point in re-doing his test - that was before we told her that we thought we may be PG!!!!!

freelancescientist · 19/06/2010 19:20

The motilities add up to 100%. The 8% is a different thing - this is the percentage of all sperm that are normal in appearance.

i think those sound good too as just compared to ours which the professionals said good. Before receiving results we were warned not to try and interprete them ourselves as they knew we'd panic at abnormal count when in fact dh's sperm analysis good.

Thanks everyone. Am going to see what the results of the second test are and what the doctor says.
