Hi all well to cut a long story short, i wanted my mirena removed to concieve, but guess what , they couldnt find the threads, after more than 4 attempts by gp's and gynea, nothing! was told it probably fell out, anyway had a scan to confirm this and there it was in the correct place in my womb, going to see a coil specialist fri after work with my scan results, just wondered what other experiences have you ladies had with the coil threads missing ? and how they remove it? im terrified its going to kill as the other attempts did bring a tear or two to my eye.. can anyone advise please as im so worried .. thanks in advance xx

My threads on my copper coil have gone walkabout as well, liek you I had a scan and it is fine, I was told that I have 2 options, leave it (and I am not looking to conceive) or remove it under GA.
I chose to leave it until it has to come out in 3 years.

The threads on mine had gone walk about too . . I went and had a scan and it was still in the correct place and everything was fine but I wanted it out, I was told that I could try my doctor first to get it out. Tried my doc, they couldnt find it so they refered me to a family planning clinic which took about a week.

When I went to the clinic they again couldnt find the threads and so had to open my cervix a little and pull it out. I'm not gonna lie this hurt. Not terrible but not something I would want a reapeat of! Left me with a little spotting and took about 5mins . . Was sore for the evening but fine and no pain the next day )

Hope that helps x
