I'm thinking of buying a cbfm...as poas for ovulation is not working for me!!.
Are they any good? advise good or bad would be helpful...hoping to pick up a second hand one if anybody wants to sell?

If your menstrual cycle is irregular in nature they are best avoided.

How long have you been ttc for, if it is now coming up to 12 months it is worth visiting the GP now.

I'd chart for free befor shelling out ~£100 on something that is going to tell me less than charting would. But a lot of peeps here swear by them.

I did consider buying one when ttc took a little longer than expected, but then realised that it wouldn't tell me about lp/implantation dip etc etc and decided not to. Plus I'm a bit of a hippy and would rather be literally in touch with my body than buy a gimmick.

I have irregular cycles (PCOS was ruled out by a blood test). I bought a CBFM as it gave me peace of mind. I also charted, and the CBFM allowed me to verify that I was interpreting my temperatures correctly and that I was getting my CF/cervix/mittelschmerz signals correct.

Thankfully, I am now pregnant, but would have probably given up with the CBFM, now that I am confident with charting. Of course, it can work out expensive, but I bought mine second-hand on eBay for about £40. All previous data can be wiped, and then the only cost is the sticks. Of course, if you do have an irregular cycle, you could end up using alot of sticks. Sorry, too superstitious to sell mine just yet

I love my CBFM. Agree with littlesilver that charting tells you more than just a CBFM, so, like babyvalentine, I chart as well. I think charting works brilliantly if you get reliable quantities of EWCM to warn you of looming ovulation; I don't, so that's where my CBFM comes in. I am also not at all confident of my cervix checking. In fact, if it wasn't for my CBFM on my last cycle I would have missed ovulation because I ovulated far earlier than ever before and my charts wouldn't have warned me of that. I also like the extra security of having two different systems correlate perfectly and confirm each other is correct.

Hi - I love my CBFM. Temping would have involved getting up at the same time to check and at least with CBFM you have quite a big testing window so that allows a lie in!
Agree with previous posters, good if your cycle is regularish, and if you don't have other OV signs to rely on.
