I am asking on behalf of my friend.

She has had two embyros implanted, she is due to test on saturday.

She has had some bleeding, not too heavy and it is brown. She has sharp stabbing pains on one side (the side the embryos were implanted) but also feels like she is going to have a period. She is panicking and now awaiting what she feels is the inevitable heavy bleeding.

Are there are reassurances I can give her? Can it still be positive news this weekend?

my sil is 10 weeks pg with twins after ivf, she had bleeding at 8.5 weeks & was sure she was starting to miscarry but a scan showed 2 heartbeats and midwife said possibly implantation bleed as the embryos "burrowed" into the lining of her womb, HTH

thank you. She is only around 14 days post transfer. Could that still be implantation bleeding? I have said to her that brown blood is normally old bloody so is not necessarily anything negative, but she thought all her old blood had been 'cleared' during the IVF treatment?

oh and congratulations to your SIL!

could be old blood, sil's was really bright red....don't really know to be honest. hope everything works out its really heartbreaking watching someone you care about go through the ivf process

arabella thank you for your info, the fact it is not, atm bright blood is a positive. yes, it has been tough for her and her DH. But she is positive in that at least she has a fighting chance and 3 more embyros have been frozen if this does not work out.

When I was IVF pg (exceptionally lucky) my ovaries would start to ache again. Not so much stabbing as aching, swollen, the way they were during stimulation. And I'd start to bloat. These for me were the side effects of the OHSS caused by the HCG.

Not sure about stabbing but if it's aching, I'd be very happy.

good luck you your friend.

I assume she has talked to the clinic? Asking about upping the progesterone might be helpful.

Hope she gets good news very soon.
