My sister is 40 and she and my DBIL are trying for a baby.

My sister hasnt had sex in 10 years and she seems to think this will somehow affect getting pregnant? She has a scan a year ago after having tummy pains and was told her overies and everything looked normal.

DBIL is diabettic this doesnt make any difference does it? and my sister has high blood pressure and is on medication will this make a difference?

I'm so bloody excited, she already has a son my fab nephew who is 12 and she never thought she would find anyone else after being on her own for so long and then a year ago she bagged herself a 30 year old and they have been together a year.

Im soooooo bloody excited

Hi how exciting for her meeting somebody when she least expected...i think she will be fine just because she hasn't had sex as long as she has still had regular periods shouldnt have any problems with her reproductive organs...it may take her a little longer being a little older but if she trieds for 6 months and has no luck can always have things checked out...good luck to her!!

p.s im not sure if diabetes has any effect I wouldnt have thought so and unless her medication says that it affects fertility she should be fine, perhaps she should check with the doctors about her medication

FYI - just googled about diabetes and read this for

Answer:In the many years that I've been taking care of patients with diabetes, issues related to male fertility have rarely occurred. Certainly, erectile dysfunction is common in patients with diabetes. But questions related to their ability to foster children has been really an infrequent complaint of patients. In general, I don't think patients with diabetes are any more likely to become infertile than patients without diabetes.
