Short cycle - is it possible I could ovulate before period bleeding is finished?

I'm getting myself all confused here! I've worked out my cycle is only 23 days, had previously been using these internet calculators/calendars and just going with the average figure of 28 days, so obviously my dates for ovulation were out.

My period seems to drag on forever, and I've only just stopped bleeding on CD 7. In the same 24hr period I would say I've had the right kind of CM....so is CD8 far too early for ovulation?

Previously I've been waiting till about CD14 but I'm thinking that may be too late given that I have a shorter cycle?

DH works shifts so it's quite tricky getting the timing right!

cd 8 is not too early for ovulation with short cycles, obviously it depends on your luteal phase, but if you have the average 14 day LP, with a 23 day cycle then you would ovulate around day 9. So cd 8 you could very well be ovulating.

There are plenty of people who concieve around the time their period finishes.

So get jiggy-with-it as soon as possible!!!

Already did ! But only had last night then tonight then it's nightshift....

OK that is good to know thank you. I've never had any ovulation pains/symptoms, so I think if we are TTC for a while I'd probably be best getting a test kit, but just wondered if CD8 would be ludicrous or not. Already have a DD, who we conceived v easily, so I don't think I have a worringly short luteal phase.

Fingers crossed!
