ANY IVF'ers out there going or about to go through treatment

Just wondered as it seems most are totally underwhelmed when it comes to mentioning IVF on these threads. It could be that folk dont know enough about it to offer thier genuine best wishes. Anyway if you are like me and embarking on IVF, would love to hear your experiences.

no, not at all. I didn't have ivf but had 5 lots of IUI. Is there something you wanted to ask or do you just want to chat to someone who's been through it? Are you having treatment now?

Welcome to MN btw

Littlestarsweeper · 08/08/2005 21:43

I had Ds through IVF and now about to have embryo's stored, thawed and replaced this coming thursday. I just hadnt seen anything regarding this and wondered if anyone else was going through ivf too. IVF and similar methods are very taxing on the recipients and thought it might help others to go through stuff. Considering 1 in 4 couples are infertile it seems amazing that not many have come forward. I had mentioned my intentions on other threads and really didnt get any excitement about it. I can fully understand if they havent had this treatment as it can be a minefield. Were you successful with your treatment?

I take it you've seen the IVF threads. I'll try and find some. Yes, had dd 16 weeks ago . Got pregnant on 3rd and 4th goes too but sadly miscarried those. DD is/was certainly worth the wait and all the emotion. How old is your DS?

DelGirl · 08/08/2005 21:55

actually, there are loads of threads but not necessarily recent ones if you look on the conception board and put the threads into alphabetical order.

I'm a regular poster but have changed my name for this as our IVF journey hasn't been shared with friends/family ... just incase anyone out there knows me! Anyway, lots of luck for your transfer on Thursday. I have two children resulting from 3 FET transfers and am hoping to try another FET fairly soon. Please keep us posted - I'll add this thread to my watch list cos I'd love to know how you get on.

munz · 09/08/2005 14:11

good luck hon, I knwo of two posters who did IVF, wendy being one (sadly had a M/C thou) and tania2 being the other she's on OZ thou. but good luck and hope it works for u.

Mum2girls · 09/08/2005 14:14

I had ICSI successfully (DD1). Stressful, but very worth it.

bundle · 09/08/2005 14:15

changeofnameforthis, intrigued about why you chose not to tell friends/family about your experiences...

Changeofnameforthis · 09/08/2005 15:28

Bundle ... some family (in-laws) know but mine don't. Something to do with probability that family wouldn't understand how hard it all is, that they would believe every negative piece of reporting about IVF, especially reports of increased risk of some health problems of children born through certain types of assisted conception. Let's just say that they're Daily Mail readers . Lots of people share and get lots of support but for me and DH it's better this way. Have a couple of close friends who know and that's great.

bundle · 09/08/2005 15:37

interesting

Mum2girls · 09/08/2005 15:52

changeofnameforthis - exactly the same as you, just a handful of people knew - no parents.

OldieMum · 09/08/2005 16:03

We had DD after 2 cycles of IUI and 6 cycles of IVF. My heart goes out to you, and anyone else, going through this.

successful · 09/08/2005 18:35

Hi all, DS is an IVF/ICSI baby, successful 1st attempt, born Dec 03. We are just embarking on the road to FET. Started taking the pill last Thurs and FET booked for 7 Oct with lots of sniffing and scans in between.

Good luck littlestarsweeper.

OP posts:
DelGirl · 09/08/2005 21:15

Are they hoping to transfer 3 then?

Eeek · 09/08/2005 21:15

Hi - just wanted to say I'm another one - there are LOTS of us! Had ds after 4 lots of IVF/ICSI including one biochemical pregnancy. The 4th attempt would have been our last. Currently pregnant after a frozen cycle. It's the hardest thing I've ever done, but also the best. Good luck for this thursday.

Littlestarsweeper · 09/08/2005 21:22

thanks Eek. DG I have four frozen left and hope to transfer 3 if thaw ok.

OP posts:
Littlestarsweeper · 10/08/2005 20:14

Me again, a little jittery in anticipation of tomorrow morning. Those of your who had FET what was the success rates of your thaw. Ive only got 4 so just a tad nervous that it might not go to plan
