Either that or I have been doing something wrong

Have been off the pill for nearly two years now. Admittedly when DH was working away, I suspect that we weren't able to have sex at the right times of the month.

Is it simply a case of I need to lay back and wiggle my feet in the air for a while?

I do have a DD already, who will be five in Oct.

Elf,

What are your periods like, are they irregular in nature and or very painful/heavy?. If either scenario is the case then a visit to the GP is in order now as you're probably not ovulating.

It is neither a question about having sex "at the right time" (infact timing of intercourse does more harm than good and can leave the man feeling used) or wiggling your feet in the air post intercourse(a myth that still does the rounds). Conception does not work like that at all.

It may be that either one or equally both of you are subfertile but many of these problems can be treated with help from a gynae at a subfertility unit. Would therefore visit the GP together to have some initial tests done. Do not delay unduly.

Thanks for the replies, not seen until now as I have been at work and try to stay off mumsnet at work!
My periods are typically regular, though I used to be 28 days and now its more 31 day cycle.
For DD, it took 3 months I think to concieve.

I am in the same boat as you Elf! I have a DD who will be 5 in January and we just can't seem to get pregnant with the 2nd!!! I am trying not to fixate on knowing which day of the cycle I am on now and trying to relax about it!
Doesn't help when people constantly ask "Are you going to have any more children?" or "Isn't it time for a 2nd?"
Fingers crossed it'll happen eventually for us both!!
