What's your temperature right now?

I'm on the 2ww and feeling positive; just took my temp (completely unscientific I know) and it's 36.79.

Anyone else?

xxx decaf

Hang on, I'll just pop upstairs and get my thermometer...

decafgirl · 30/05/2010 20:56

I already love you xxx

97.45F (36.36C) which is exceedingly odd as I am 7DPO and have been 97.90(36.61C) for the past 4 days?

Eh?

BabyValentine · 30/05/2010 20:59

What have you started decaf?!

Shouldn't I be hotter as I am not half asleep at 5:30 am? And I jogged up the stairs to get it.

decafgirl · 30/05/2010 21:00

Ooh! I'm 8dpo. Don't worry, it is very unscientific! Thank you xx

Why the positive vibe, decaf?

HoneyPetal · 30/05/2010 21:02

My thermometer is right next to me, so I did it for you .

Im on my period and its 36.83 degC.

I dont think you can read too much into your non-basal temp. If it was high this morning and matches your post-ovulation pattern, then thats different, of course!

Good luck, I hope you get your BFP!

decafgirl · 30/05/2010 21:04

Have had cramps for the last 3 days, boobs are a bit odd, v. bloated & I know we DTD at the right time. Just feel like it's my time but hey, what the hell do I know?!!

What about you? Any vibes?

OP posts:
BabyValentine · 30/05/2010 21:05

And you still haven't explained why my temperature is lower now than it was at 5:30 this morning. As you started this study, I think I deserve some kind of waffle explanation

BabyValentine · 30/05/2010 21:07

Trying to steer clear of vibes - I had 18 post-ov high temps last month and was bitterly disappointed. Odd is good though, this could be your month

HoneyPetal · 30/05/2010 21:10

I think basal body temperature varies normally during the day. The important thing is to take it at the same time, and after at least three hours kip. Thats why FF has a fit if you take your temp at wildly different times .

decafgirl · 30/05/2010 21:14

Hmmm your temp is lower as your body likes to play tricks on you and you are obviously such an active person so that a mear jog upstairs will have no effect. I bet it's through the roof in the morn xxx

HP, you seem in the know , so answer me this: isn't it meant to be at its lowest after sleep?

BabyValentine · 30/05/2010 21:16

Ha, decaf, you are so right! In fact, since we started this conversation, I have had some minor cramps. I think I may be going slightly mad

decafgirl · 30/05/2010 21:21

ommmmmm.....and now you will start prodding at your boobs....ommmmm

BabyValentine · 30/05/2010 21:22

Just did - definately pokeable, no tenderness in sight. Temporary insanity receeding...

HoneyPetal · 30/05/2010 21:24

Not really, I have been reading a bit about it recently as just started charting - certainly not an expert but love collecting data

I think it usually is lower at that time of the day, but does vary quite a lot depending on other factors. I seem to remember the wikipedia page was good for explaining this (search for 'normal body temp'). It could also be that your thermometer has a certain error range as well. Try sitting still and measuring your temp five times, a few minutes apart, You will see the range then.

decafgirl · 30/05/2010 21:26

Damn! I did too and it blardy hurt!! They're on and off though which is the odd bit. Bought myself a bottle of wine last night to 'prove' to myself I can't poss be pg. It took us a year to get pg with our DS. Only managed half a glass last night as felt too guilty! Roll on Saturday!

Where's everyone else with their thermometers?!

OP posts:
BabyValentine · 30/05/2010 21:30

Oh hell, I can sense an obsession coming on! I foretell reams of numbers, numerous thermometers, star jumps...

BabyValentine · 30/05/2010 21:32

Me too with the guilty wine. Half a glass for Eurovision, wracked with guilt this morning.

HoneyPetal · 30/05/2010 21:35

Nothing wrong with reams of numbers . TBH, I tested the error of both of my thermometers when I first got them, and that included calculating the standard deviation of repeated measurements.

decafgirl · 30/05/2010 21:36

It'll be totally fine!! The wine just helps us relax...until the guilt kicks in! It's a vicious circle!!

Hi, i'm also on the 2ww 7 days to go!! My temp has been 37.00

BabyValentine · 30/05/2010 21:48

Honeypetal, you sound like a fellow scientist. I'm going to recline in the boudoir for a while and do some temperature experiments (DH already thinks I'm a sandwich short!). I may report back in the morning. Perhaps we could get something published?

HoneyPetal · 30/05/2010 21:59

More chance of getting that data published than my current failed project

If you really wanted to reduce experimental error, you could use a waterbath to assess the thermometer performance.

Right. Shutting up now.
