Luteal Phase is 9 days...should I be worried?

I'm on my 4th month of ttc no 2 and have noticed my LP is 9 days. After doing a little googling, bad i know, I'm all worried about scary sounding luteal phase defects.

Should I be thinking about seeing my GP or taking anything to lengthen my LP? Has anyone had such a short LP and still fallen pregnant without problem? Please come and tell me I'm worrying over nothing!

Hi Joey, I've been TTC No2 since February and have only had two cycles as my cycles have been eight weeks and six weeks. I also noticed on my last cycle that I ovulate and then around 8-10 days later I get my period - not good for getting pregnant. After talking to some people on here I have started taking vitamin B6, 30 mg a day, plus my multi vitamin which has 10mg of V B6. I have also stopped eating any low sugar foods with aspartame in it as I've been told that this can make it harder to get pregnant. This is only my first cycle of trying this so will have to see if it makes any difference. I think I might be ovulating now as am getting pains etc so will let you know if my period waits more than 8 days!

thanks Bensmum. i'll give the b6 a go if it doesn't happen this month. my cycle length has been all over the place too since dc1, but the luteal phase seems to be 9 days no matter what.

good luck! i think we're on about the same point of our cycles so will be thinking of you!

I've just charted for the first time since coming off the pill 6 months ago. My chart shows a LP of 9 days too and I'm devastated. My cycles have been short since I came off the pill and I'm worried that my LP has been short all this time....I'm worried about my potential to conceive now. I am thinking about going to my GP but not sure if I need to have a few charts to show her?

Maybe I'll try the B6 for this month and see how it goes this time around.

I have been doing some reading and seems agnus castus has some success for people too, although I think I'll check with my GP before taking anything.

I think if you've got any charts at all to show your GP, waka, then that's a good start.

Was really hoping someone would come along and say they got pregnant with a 6 day LP!

Hi guys, Thought I'd update you both. I definitely ovulated the weekend just gone so will see if my af waits a bit longer this month. I'm hoping I can make it to 14 days - will let you know. Any update on your part? x

Hi there,

FF says I ovulated cd19. My cycle has been anything from 25-31 days since having my son, so we'll see if the LP gets any longer this cycle.

3dpo today...at least the one bonus of a short LP is that we shave time off the 2ww

Will be crossing fingers one of us at least gets a BFP to disprove the theory that 9 days is too short!

I am really unsure about my actual LP as what I had on 9DPO was actually spotting I think. This lasted 3 days before my normal period arrived. Still a short cycle none the less though. Have started taking B6 this month and I hope I'll see a change. If not I may go to the docs as thats me been off the pill for 6 months so would expect things to be back to normal by now (whatever that is!)

Fingers crossed for you this month. My SWI will begin shortly

joeypotter · 04/06/2010 20:00

Opinion varies on whether to count spotting as cd1 doesn't it. Talk about confusing! I think if I don't get a BFP this month I'll be heading to the GP to ask about B6 and Agnus Castus. Can't hurt to ask, right?

Here's lots of energy for you waka for the next SWI marathon

Uodate time. The B6 didn't do anything for me this month. Spotting arrived bang on schedule at 9DPO! I knew it was coming before it even started .

So I have made an appointment for the doctors next week. I even looked up what their specialisms were and picked the best one! I'll let you know what she says..

Sorry I know this is a very old thread but just wondering how did it get to lengthen your luteal phase? Mine also falls short (9 days)... Wonder if your GP gave you something or it got solved by any other means? Thank you @wakarimasen @joeypotter@Bensmum76 @joeypotter
